I Forgot the Name of That ___! discussion

I read a short story and do not remember who wrote it or the title. It is about people who win a lottery and rennovate a house while their relative is in the hospital. They do it according to plans she had clipped from magazines for many years. When she returns to her house her only comment is that the curtains are not the same color as she remembered. In other words, her dreams were part of her reality. In her mind she had already done all the rennovations. It sounds like a Roald Dahl or Guy de Maupasant, but I cannot find it. Any suggestions?
