Olivia (olivia_r) Have you read any of K.M. Weiland's books? It seems fitting for this group :) Share your reviews and thoughts here.

I read Behold the Dawn Behold the Dawn by K.M. Weiland in December. Here is my review:

{5 stars} Oh my. I am totally astounded at this book. Having only read one other historical fiction book set during the Crusades that I wasn't impressed with, I wasn't sure what to expect with this. From what I've seen of this author I hoped it would be good and it was. More than that, it was amazing.

The characters were full of depth and so real. Annan struggles with his past and is a tourneyer only to appease his conscience. Then there is Mairead, a countess wife, her fear and need of safety found in the man Annan. And Marek. He made me smile and laugh and added that spice of humor that the story needed.

There is a lot of fighting in this book which some readers might find disturbing. There is mention of a woman having a child out of wedlock, but never is detailed and I appreciated that. The romance is sweet and just right for my taste.

The evil men were portrayed quite well. Hatred and power is shown in their lives. Although the end is victorious, it made me sad how useless those people sent their lives. I was very surprised at something toward the end.

I was able to follow the story relatively well. Sometimes I was confused with who was who, but it wasn't enough to ruin the story-line for me at all. The redemption message is wonderful. Annan could not defeat evil on his own. He needed God.

The author has written a fabulous book, and I will be reading it again in the future.

Aww, you just made my day. I have to admit Behold the Dawn is probably my favorite of all my stories. I always get warm fuzzies when someone likes it. ;)

That's what I hope all my high ratings do for authors :))

Alayna Mitchell | 10 comments I've read both "Behold the Dawn" and "Dreamlander." Both ruined me for several days afterwards. I had such a bad case of "novel hangover." =)

I loved the characters and plot so much. Medieval stories are my favorite.

Writing positive reviews for them is on my list of things to do.

Benjamin Thomas | 104 comments I've read Outlining, Structuring Your Novel, Advanced Story Structure and Storming. All of the writing books are superb, I'd recommend them to anyone. in fact I'm reading them multiple times until they ooze out my pores. Sorry for the visual. Storming is an excellent and entertaining read. Characters and dialogue are great. Can't wait to see what She comes up with in her upcoming novel Wayfarer.

You should! They were amazing books.

Last I knew, Dreamlander is actually free right now on Ms. Weiland's blog, and at the end of Dreamlander, she has a link to get Behold the Dawn free.

Luke Taylor Dreamlander is one of my favorite books of all time and if you haven't read it yet, it will be a bright spot on your reading challenge, but also, if you guys haven't read Storming yet, you have to. It's just special, like Katie herself. I've never even heard of another book like it. Do yourself and your 100 books challenge a favor make sure you read it this year. :D
