I'm not a musician. I just love music.

I'm also a musician and I'll share some of my stuff when I've worked out how... Thanks for the invitation!

I've been performing live since 1987, writing lyrics since 1992 and composing complete pieces since 2011. I sing, play harmonica, bass and keyboards with varying levels of ability. I also like to record samples of various stuff to weave into my music (the percussion track on one of my pieces is a sample of me rolling about fifty dice at once, just as an example).

I'm Shine. I play the piano and a keyboard. I've been writing song lyrics since 2013.

Yes. I've been playing piano for about 4 or 5 years. I lost count.

2013 is the year that I started writing my own songs. I have different genres for them.

I love music.

Non muso but a lover of music. When asked I always say everything from Abba to Zappa and Bach to The Beatles. First gig I ever seen was Black Sabbath at Brisbane's festival hall as a 15 year old back in the mid 70's and the latest was a sublime performance by Joanna Newsom at Brisbane's QPac last month. Looking forward to seeing some great new music posted here.

I have a very broad taste in music; anything from ambient to thrash metal. I'm a firm believer in Theodore Sturgeon's saying that 90% of everything is shit... because it means that 10% of everything, including musical genres, is great... you just have to find the 10% that resonates with you.

I've been listening to a lot of Primus lately... and some Madness... and quite a bit of Helen Jane Long.

Yes Leos girl ((Elizabeth Valdez)) THE Black Sabbath. Ozzie had a sore throat and was off the stage for half the night so the jammed a fair bit. Memories of a first gig for a 14/15 year old. Even recall the support band. Buffalo a very good but now obscure Australian rock band.

I am a musician and have been playing a variety of stringed instruments since I was in grade school, mainly guitar. I like to play everything from progressive and experimental to bluegrass and folk. Btw another fan of Joanna Newsom here, can't get much better.

My heroes were also Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, White Snake but I was also an avid fan of the Hollies and went on to love everything from Crosby Stills and Nash and Young. I have very eclectic tastes and at the moment I am enjoying When I was 7 years old by Lukas Graham. Music and books - love em.

Hi, I'm Karin. I teach piano, bought a guitar last year and do some singing at open mics when I go with my kids. One of my daughters wants to become a jazz musician (tenor sax as her main instrument, but started on flute so is keeping that up) and my son, who loves Classical music the most (plus listens to Christian pop, etc) wants to be a classical trumpeter.

So we LOVE music around here, and when we're not playing are often singing or humming as we go about our days.

I am not a musician either but am a music lover! On any given day it could be heavy metal, prog rock, folk, jazz, blues, hip-hop, trip-hop, opera, choral, pop, rock, skiffle, easy listening. You get the idea.

Like 4zzz, my first 'proper' gig was Black Sabbath. Oh and Ian Gillan of Deep Purple lives a few hundred yards from me!

My 2nd gig was Deep Purple at a place called the Milton Tennis Courts that have since become apartments or something. The guitarist was Tommy Bolin and the singer David Coverdale.

My first gig (not including local, unsigned bands) was Skid Row supported by LA Guns and Love/Hate... Ah, the memories... :-)

I think I still have a couple of Whitesnake vinyls tucked away somewhere. I'm a bit worried though Paul. I had to look Skid Row up LOL. So much passes us by I guess.

That they were... I mean, technically Skid Row are still going... but it's just not the same without Seb Bach's fantastic voice...

By the way those "radio" lyrics were from a great Australian band called The Sports. I had the pleasure of seeing them live as a support to Graham Parker and the Rumour. One of the best support bands I had ever seen and Parker acknowledged them during his gig. He was great too. What a gig that was.

What kind of music is played on Womenofsubstance?

All different kinds including pop rock country. but what I really like about it is that a lot of the artists have great talent but have not been discovered yet, not like the big time production people we see on the radio.

So its very different
