Justin (justinbienvenue) I recently wrote an article on why book trailers are underrated and what we can do as authors to not only make them relevant but to keep them relevant.

Adam Cushman (cushmanovich) | 4 comments One major problem is book trailers are often made last minute and thrown together in an hour on iMovie, or purchased for $75. In this case it's better not to have one. Audiences have high expectations for video quality. Studies show 82% of online activity is spent watching video. So the upshot is to make them good.

Peter R Gibbs | 2 comments Having the idea for a book, writing it, finding an agent and a publisher and finally having your work presented is a major and stressful situation. That's just the beginning - getting someone to actually pick it up and buy it is far harder. There are millions of books on the market, so what makes someone pick yours.

There are a number of factors and they all rely on each other. However, as in the way that we purchase most items - we buy with our 'eyes' initially, so your book has to stand out on the bookshelf or online. The front cover design is very crucial - it can affect whether someone picks it up or not, so in any trailer the front cover must be prominent, so must the voiceover and the general overall feel - it is all about 'knowing your product and your market'.
