Brian Zheng This book was a romantic novel. It talks about a person who's in the army who fell in love with an college student when they met on the beach. John and Savannah were the main characters. This novel was set in the early 2000's in North Carolina.Unfortunately as soon as they fell in love with each other, John had to go back to Germany for the army. The only way they communicated was overall sending mails and calling but mostly just seeing mails back and forth. John would occasionally come back for a break but everytime he left, Savnnah heart would break more and more because of the presence he had in her. After what happen during 9/11, John had to decide if he wanted to choose love over pride fighting for his country. He decided to stay in the army, so that means John and Savannah would hardly ever see each other again for a while. John would usually receive Savnnah's mail weekly but after time went along it would take every 10 days, then every couple of weeks. John feel suspicious if Savannah had found someone else but all that was answer by a mail from Savannah confirming that she had found another man and was married to him. The rest of the book after that moment was painful, soon afterwards John had an emergency leave from the army because he found out his father had a 2nd heart attack and could barely take care of himself. Soon his father died, on the trip back he decided to visit Savannah and found out her husband had cancer. Savannah had gone through tough times. He knew her husband was going to die. They both still had the same love for each other but John felt guilty that he would ruin they're relationship so he finally told Savannah that this would be the last time they would ever seen each other again.Dear John

Ruzziel I really like this book...I hope Nicholas Sparks will have a continuation of John & Savannah/s love story

Louise This was a very good book. Nicholas Sparks is an excellent author. I really enjoyed this one...so much so that I read in two days.

Fanofwoodiwiss This is the kind of book that makes your heart ache and also restores your beliefs in true unselfish love. I love John and even though i disagree with Savannah's choice i believe she loves John and always will. I would love to see a follow-up of this story and see if life and love can bring them back together.

Haley Eskra The book Dear John, by Nicholas Sparks is a romantic fiction book. John Tyree meets the love of his life, Savannah Curtis, while home from the army. They began to fall deeply in love with each other, but then 9/11 forced him to go back to the army. He makes a promise to her that he will return home and they will get married. When he returns home he comes across something that he didn't expect. Something that will change his life forever. This book is really good. The plot was very interesting throughout the whole book. Both characters encounter many problems, but they work together to overcome them. It was well written with a lot of lessons. For example, making good decisions will eliminate some of the feeling of regret. I think the way Sparks developed these little life lessons throughout the story had a greater effect on the reader. I would highly recommend this book. Anyone would like it, especially readers who like romantic books. The best part of the it, in my opinion, is when John first meets Savannah. I think this is a good start to the book. Johns makes a great first impression that catches Savannah's eyes. It shows the idea of love at first sight. I found it really interesting and important to the plot. I loved how during the book they kept having flashbacks of what happened when they first met. It was overall a great book.
