Roll Dice

Monopoly Rules

• You do not need to wait for the other player to finish reading before you take your next turn. As soon as you're done reading, go ahead and roll.
• Each property is represented by a shelf. For each grouping of shelves/properties you would read a certain amount of books from that shelf. Once you finish the amount of books you would then “Own” that shelf.
• If you land on an “owned” shelf you would have to read a certain amount of books above what the owner had to read.
• If one person “owns” all of the books in a group (think Mediterranean and Baltic) and another player lands on their properties they would be able to recommend at least one of the books that the player has to read.
• Utilities – For the Electric Company – Read a book where the characters have electric chemistry. For Water Works – Read a book that makes you cry. Books have to be 150 pages or more.
• If a player lands on an “Owned” utility, then the owner will recommend a book with electric chemistry or that makes them cry.
• Railroads – For Reading Railroad – Read whatever you want. For Pennsylvania Railroad – Read a book set in Pennsylvania. For B&O Railroad – Read a book that someone else thought stunk. For Short Line – Read a novella. Page minimum 150 for all but Short Line. 25 page minimum for the novella.
• If a player lands on an “owned” railroad, the owner will recommend a book for that specific railroad.
• Chance and Community Chest – there are 12 cards for each. If a player lands on one of those spots they will roll the dice a second time and then would “pull” the corresponding card and do whatever it says on the card. Once a card is used, it will be out of play unless needed to finish the game. Books for this would need to be at least 150 pages.
• Being in Jail – To get out of jail you would need to have one of the get out of jail free cards, roll doubles on one of your next three turns or read a book where a character is arrested or has been in jail. Books for this would need to be 150 pages or more.
• Just Visiting – Read a novella of your choice, 50 page minimum
• Free Parking – Read any book 100 pages or more
• Go – Read any book of 200 pages or more
• Luxury Tax/Income Tax – Read a book with a rich character, a really poor character or someone that works in a bank. 150 pages or more
• Each roll, you'll post your starting spot, the roll and your new spot on the board.
• When you finish your book you'll post the spot your on, book name, rating, when it was finished and a short review of the book. If you were supposed to read a book that had a specific element (water works utility, book that made you cry), then please mention that in the review.
• Re-reads are allowed.

If there's a musician in the book I'm reading, can I count that? I started it after this challenge started, and I'm only on page 26.

I should hopefully get heaps of books read this week, but I know when school starts back next week I'm going to be really busy.

For me it wouldn't be a problem, but you may want to ask in the other thread.

I have, and they said that any book started after we decided to play a game together counts. So I can use this. Not sure if there is a musician in it though. If there isn't, then I'm starting The Selection tomorrow and there's a musician in that.

My chosen book is slow going. I love the series, but I am also reading another book and listening to another book for other challenges. So you are not alone.

This book was amazing. It was as good as the cover made it look, so that was good. The one thing that shocked me was that (view spoiler)[she already had a love at the start. I thought it would just be love at first sight with Maxon. (hide spoiler)] Glad it wasn't though, and that it was a gradual thing.
Why's there always that girl that's been created for readers to hate *cough cough* Celeste. She just annoys me no end. So selfish. And the way she (view spoiler)[ripped America's dress, and spilt wine on Kriss's dress! (hide spoiler)] And there was a time when I disliked Maxon, for (view spoiler)[standing up for Celeste and not agreeing with America. (hide spoiler)] But bleh, I'm glad I re-read this one. Going to finish the series this time around.

Rolled another 7, 6+1. Now on spot Virginia Avenue. Must read one book from the Book Club Shelf to own.

I'm reading Cinder for Virginia Avenue property.

I added Community Chest and Chance to our tracking post, so that we can keep up with the ones that are used and discarded.

Oh we have discarded and used Chance and CC cards? That's interesting.

Yeah. From directions above:

I didn't know this was a Cinderella retake.
I liked how there wasn't much romance in the book. There were the odd moments, but I didn't mind it. One thing that I didn't like was how (view spoiler)[she ended up as Princess Selene. As soon as the theories made their way into the book, I knew that she'd turn out to be the princess. (hide spoiler)] But I had no idea that (view spoiler)[she was Lunar. (hide spoiler)] That was a nice shock. And why is there always an evil Queen? I don't even need any spoilers for that, because it's just too predictable. I'll be reading the rest of the series.

And how am I kicking butt? I've got 1 property haha. You'll be able to catch back up in no time, especially with university classes starting next week. I'll definitely have less time. And if you need some motivation, you should do some reading sprints :) If you don't know what they are, I'll tell you haha. That's like the only time I read.

What exactly are reading sprints? A mini marathon?

Review:
I love a kickass, take no prisoners heroine and a hero who lets her be herself and loves her anyway. That is exactly what you get with Roarke and Eve.

What I loved the most about this book in particular is how playful Eve and Roarke were with one another. You can see how much Eve is opening up and accepting all the things that comes along with being with Roarke, and the fact that she is accepting that he really does love her and she him.

The mystery here had me a bit baffled at first, but it didn't take me long to suspect who the culprit was.

The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because it took me a while to really get into the story, but overall it was pretty freaking amazing.

Would you like to do a sprint or two now?

Just realized I screw up with my first roll so I will revise it before moving on.
