I'd be interested in how you all use Twitter. I've had an account for a while but I haven't been very good at keeping it regular. Any suggestions? I'd like to get it up and running again.

I write superhero fiction, so a dynamic twitter would be good, right? :)

message 8: by Annie (new)

Annie Arcane (anniearcane) Oooh, Ben!

Superhero fic, eh? Very cool!! I'm a bit of a comic book nerd, so... *grins* But yeah, a dynamic twitter would be awesomely fitting, for sure!! As for me...

I run an online publishing platform for authors to serialize their work. I typically keep Mondays to blog my own personal announcements about books, extra content, updates, etc. However, as I bring more authors on board, I would like to step back and leave the spotlight for them XD Sooo I'm just now starting to switch my own personal posts and announcements over to twitter. Finally popped my tweet cherry a couple days ago *smirks*)

With that being said, I own the darn thing so I'm gonna take my sweet time doing it hahaha.

Hugs,
Ann

Ben Langdon | 11 comments Great superpower - caffeine to books. :)

I'm following you now, not in a stalker way. Serialising fiction is a great idea and I've actually been playing with the concept as well. Taking the idea from the monthly comic format, adding episodes monthly to a superhero team story. Buuuuut... I'm currently writing another novel so I feel guilty about splitting the time.

I've got a couple of weeks off from work (school holidays - benefit of being a teacher) so I will try to work out some kind of twitter-schedule. I like your idea of having a special day to do it and to keep it to a small range of topics.

Thanks for the chat!

message 10: by Annie (new)

Annie Arcane (anniearcane) Hahaha Ben! Best super ability ever, eh? And too bad, I always dig me some new stalkers XP

Seriously, though, the funny thing (whoa, oxymoron!) is that I don't even have much of my own writing on my publishing platform anymore. I started the site because I wanted to serialize chapters of my story and am waaaay too much of a control freak to not have everything look a certain way *smirks* But I had to pull it down in order to list on Kindle...so...yeah. Heh. If it wasn't for my other authors, there'd be nothing on there *grins sheepishly*

And no probs! Didn't wanna leave ya hanging ^_~

Hugs,
Ann

I recently hosted an event on Facebook with Twitter tips for writers. It's still posted, so you are more than welcome to scroll through the tips: https://www.facebook.com/events/99692...

Ben Langdon | 11 comments Okay, #mindblown A.F.

There's a lot to get my head around but I think the two best things I took way from your really cool Facebook event were:

1) use images along with tweets
2) start up a hashtag weekly thing and see if it takes off

Sure, you didn't really emphasise that, but being a superhero fiction writer I can really see a weekly hashtag event taking off - maybe something like a theme, followed by a quote from a superhero/villain. I'll work on it.

Thanks for your help. (And I've followed you!)

Not a bad hashtag idea; the Twitter geeks would love it.
Just be sure to do a Twitter search when you settle on a hashtag, to make sure it's not already in use.

I think it is too but I am biased. But thank you. Check out my website; www.flowersoftheforest.ca. I am trying to show what went into the research for the book. I found a treasure of history and pictures that changed my life.
