hello! I'm Caroline, an American English teacher living in Japan, and this is my first time doing the uno challenge. I'm really looking forward to it!
Hi, Vanessa and Caroline! This is my first uno challenge too. It looks like fun! :) I'm a uni student in Australia. Japan must be lovely, Caroline!
Hi I'm Daniela :) this is my first challenge, so excited! We'll have to decide on books soon once everyone read the mail :)
Hi. I'm NancyMarie. This is my first time doing a UNO challenge. It sounds fun
Yes, I'm excited about working out books. I did up a little reference list for myself yesterday and worked out I have heaps of TBR books for each category, and am happy to read whatever! I'm so bad at choosing books out of the blue, hence my love for challenges! Lol.
Hi, my first UNO challenge too. I'm super excited :) I'm from India and I'm doing my Masters in literature. (Though my choice in books would seem shocking to some. LOL)
Hi Everyone, this is also my first time playing UNO. I live in Ohio close to where Glee takes place (as a matter of fact my son's girlfriend grew up in Lima, OH).I'm like you Jess I dislike choosing books out of the blue and so I rely on challenges to choose for me.
Hi everyone, this is my second time playing UNO. It's fun :) Since I'm retired I can read as much as I want. I usually read 12-15+ books a month, depending on their length. I'm like others here: I like a challenge to get me out potential reading ruts.
Ella, a masters in literature sounds really interesting!Jennifer, seems like you're on the perfect team then if you're so close to Glee's setting! I've never seen it, but that's something I can say about most TV shows, lol. I'm so behind with the times.
Anne, 12-15 books a month is impressive! Sounds like a great way to retire to me :)
Jess wrote: " Anne, 12-15 books a month is impressive! Sounds like a great way to retire to me :)."It is, Jess. And thanks for the friend request. You've got alot of interesting books on your TBR shelf.
As I'm in Japan, my access to English books is limited. That being said, I have 44 books on hand. I have at least one book for every card type, but the majority of my books work for cards 0 and 2
Caroline i don't think it will be a problem. You can take 0 or 2 in each hand and the rest of us can take the remaining card type. Later on in the game if you don't have the books on hand you can always try eBooks.
Yeah, what Divya said! I'm happy to take any card type, so I'm sure we'll work something out that's good for everyone.
Jess, I do enjoy studying literature. I love reading and rating books (unfortunately it's not nearly as fun, having other people rating my answers :( LOL)I can take up as many books as needed... I take about 2-3 days to finish a book depending on the length, unless I have tests or guests. I'm also comfortable with any card since I have a long tbr list to choose from. :)
Hi everyone! Glad to be on Team Glee! I think we almost cover the globe! This is my second year participating in the UNO Challenge. Anne (Booklady) and I were on the same team last year. Hi Anne!!This challenge is fun and Caroline you will be surprised by what cards your books may cover. There are mini challenges throughout as well.
For the Lit people, please don't be offended by my choice of reading material. My tastes lean more toward smut and romance. Read Pride and Prejudice didn't see what the big deal was. Enjoyed Pride, Prejudice and Zombies a whole lot more and Anna Karenina took me about 4 months to read. I am sure the library was sick of me renewing the thing.
I would ask that everyone post a link to their shelf for the challenge. It's easy for everyone to see what you are reading/have read and it makes it easier to track for the spreadsheets. Thanks.
Let's have fun and kick some butt.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...My shelf :) oh and btw I'm actually happy to get any number as I finally got my library card :D
Bebe20018, It's good to have someone who has played this before. I'm a lit student but trust me, the only time I pick up a literary novel, is before my exams. I love all sub genres under romance (smut included) :) UNO-2016 <--My Shelf
Hi everyone, I'm Andrea and this is my first UNO challenge as well. Very excited to have been put on a team (especially one named after one of my favourite TV shows). I'm from Canada and work at a library so I'll have access to lots of books!
Can we decide on who gets which card soon please? So I can get books early enough in case I don't have the right ones at home? :)
Daniela list whatever books you want to read and what cards you think it will cover. You don't have to wait to pick books and cards. However, reading cannot begin until March 1.My first book will be
. For now this will cover a nine. Title starts with N but it could also be used because it takes place in New Orleans. It could also be used to cover a 2 because the author's last name starts with T or because the character's first name starts with T. It could also be used to cover 0 because it is a stand alone book.So believe me when I say Caroline your book choices will be fine.
Sometimes books will sometimes get moved around to make sure hands are properly covered.
So everyone go ahead, pick and choose.
I just thought it'd be easier to decide on a few hands before so we can do them in order to get the points :) but that's fine then, I'll pick a book then for any card that's in the first hand
For now I do ask that the Wild cards be left for last. They are the easiest to cover because any book will do.
Sounds like a plan :) I've got a few books out from the library that I'm itching to read but don't want to start until March 1 so I can count them! Haha. And I have to finish two of the previous books in the series before I can start them... But you know haha. I read a lot of books at once :)

If you already know what you plan to read you can go ahead and post it. I can start filling in the spreadsheet.

I am compiling my March TBR list now. It will take me several days to get it in order, but I will post this weekend with a tentative list. =]
My first book will be Slaughterhouse-Five - Kurt Vonnegut. This can work for cards 0, 6, 7, and Skip.0 - stand alone book
6 - Title starts with S
7 - Last name starts with V
Skip - First name starts with K; MC's last name starts with P (Billy Pilgrim)
How far ahead would you like me to post my TBR list here? I have 30ish books that I plan on reading (being realistic, I see me getting through 15-20 of them within the time limit of this game)

READ
I'll start with I am Number Four - Pittacus Lore I have this book in my shelf for years now, I really need to start reading it.
4 - Has a 4 or Four in the title
1 - is set in a place name starting with O (Ohio)
3 - has a character with a first nake starting with H (Henri)
5 - Title starting with I
I'll choose the next book after we started the challenge. I'm already warning you, I definitely won't be able to read more than 5-10 books due to exams this month. But I'll try to only pick books that don't have more than 300 pages, I should get through them quickly then
I think I'll start with number 7 from the first hand. The book I choose is
for author's title beginning with V-Verge (Lisa Ann Verge) P.S-It can also be placed under 0- standalone, but I think 7 would be a better option.
P.P.S- I'm happy to take any other number. :)
Ella wrote: "I also wanted to ask.. can 1 person read more than 1 book in the same hand?"Definitely! Some of the readers with higher books read per month like Anne, Divya and Vanessa will sometimes have a hand to themselves and that's okay.
Last year I was on Team Monster High. If you want to take a look at the spreadsheet....https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
you can also see the mini challenges which were quite fun. I don't know what they will come up with this year.
