Starting with All the Bright Places (suicide) and Hidden Girl: The True Story of a Modern-Day Child Slave (human trafficking / slavery). I'm also planning to read Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain (eating disorder / mental illness). I'm so excited for all of my books. I really want to read all of them. :)
Marie wrote: "Can we change our team name to The thirst for Knowledge (team numero uno)"Yup. Just need to wait for those pesky timezones again so I can edit the thread :)
Homework doesn't have to be turned in immediately after finishing a book. You have until Monday at midnight EST.
I've come home from hockey, and had myself a Dark and Stormy, and now homemade sangria. Tippling is well under way in this house, as well as the topplering.

our sunday in mid-europe has started with rain - ha, perfect!
have been to the bakery & am now all settled for the reading day *grin*
I have just abandoned my first book, Cold City, as I wasn't enjoying it at all. Not the best start to this toppler for me but hopefully my next book will be better. I am going to read The Ballroom instead.

Ugh, overslept and woke up groggy with stuffy nose and feeling like crap. Will try and listen some more to my book, but will probably nap.

Lisa wrote: "I hate when that happens. The Ballroom looks intriguing....enjoy!!Thanks, Lisa. The Ballroom is really good so far. I'm glad I picked it up :)
I'm going to run to the library now. I didn't feel like reading any of the books that I own that qualify.

I'm about halfway finished with Infidel. This book is amazing and I haven't even gotten to what makes Ayaan so amazing. What a story it is.
jaxnsmom wrote: "I'm going to run to the library now. I didn't feel like reading any of the books that I own that qualify."OOOHHH the candy store for book lovers:) Have fun.
Went to the library and then to get some Thai food. Now I'm going to have some tea, watch a couple of tv shows I recorded, and then read. Now to decide between The Walking Dead and Vikings.

Thanks to this wonderful group I have broken any reading records I have ever set :-) loving the Toppler event ..... and, yes - my mind has started to expand, expand, expand!

from time to time,we stumble upon a book that moves us so deeply, we feel the urge to share it.
and that's what has happened to me.
I'm right into the second story of
Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
and can but only recommend it to everyone. Lahiri's stories carry a human depth without becoming heavy for the reader. It's a calming experience, to read her writing.
I really liked Interpreter of Maladies too, Caecilia.I will be flying tomorrow for a conference and will make good use of my 3.5 hours flying time. Will start with The Last Runaway.
Hi Jmom - I saw in one of the team threads that Brittany was having real life issues with her young child and she was withdrawing from the Toppler. If she has not read any books, you can slot me into her team.
I listened to Two Boys Kissing and will be able to give the team points for this book and I will finish my homework for it. I am not going to read any other books that would apply for the toppler though. I had requested the audio book from my library some time ago, and it just became available to me yesterday.

Pragya :-) thank you so much for sharing. I am almost 30% into the book and ... loving it. All the best for your conference today and ;-) happy reading time!
DoesYour Heart Is a Muscle the Size of a Fist
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption
or
The Dry Grass of August
fit the theme

I would think political for this.
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption
or
Maybe political??
The Dry Grass of August
Definitely racism
fit the theme"
I think your first and last would definitely work….anyone else??
****IMPORTANT****Team members need to report in the appropriate place(s). Whoever is tracking points for your team has stated where they want the books read and homework reported. Don't make them have to wonder if they got everyone and will need to search through the posts. I might take away points if it looks like this is a problem.

I'll say they all do.
Yes, Jmom. I saw it. I will report in tomorrow. I just finished listening to a series book and checked the post before I go to bed. Thanks!

thanks
Love the pic, Lisa!Just now getting a chance to check in. My computer's been under attack, but hopefully it's under control now.
I know this has been a tough one, so congratulations to all of you that participated. I think I'm going to be spending some time in fluffy land.
I've been visiting fluffy land all week. Every time I finished a toppler book, I let myself reread a fluffy book I'd read before. So I actually read six books last week, although only three of them counted for the toppler. On my walks, I amused myself looking for links between the fluffy paranormal romances and the much more real toppler books. It was interesting, doing a mental comparison of the behaviors of a butch and a dominant werewolf.
Lisa wrote: "Nice job everyone. What were your favorite books?"
This is an easy question for me. The Ballroom by Anna Hope which I rated 4 stars. It wasn't perfect by any means but it was a lot better than the other book I read, A Royal Affair, which barely scraped 2 stars.
