I have started reading this book and am only a few chapters in. I guess I am wondering if anyone else is a little confused as to what the background of this book is. Could someone possibly enlighten me on what they think the background of the story is??

Loved this book! Background in what way? Like the idea that inspired it? Or like the paranormal community background?
The community just is - operating secretly and quietly on the fringes of normal society.
