Italian Village on Monroe St. It has been around since the 1920s. Girl and a Goat. Randolph St. Or Little Goat.
Kuma's Corner. Ridiculous burgers..get mac and cheese on the side.
Ginos East Pizza. Takes an hour plus for Chicago style Pizza.
Food:Latinicity -- Latin fusion so lots of variety, plenty of room
Xoco -- Rick Bayless fast casual authentic Mexican
Slurping Turtle - Modern Japanese ramen from Top Chef Master
Eataly -- like the one in NY; variety of Italian foods
Chinatown -- lots of good food here
Fun:
Millenium Park
Willis Tower (aka Sears Tower) -- viewing deck where you can do a Ferris Beuler and lean over the windows and look down
Art Institute of Chicago -- one of the best museums in the world
Shopping - Michigan Ave, Gold Coast, State Street
Book stores:
Book Cellar - can take public transportation here
Anderson's -- need a car to get to this and others
Book Stall
Book Table
I'm not from Chicago but I know that checking out some of the local yarn shops is on my to do list while I'm at BEA. Yarnify! (formerly Loopy Yarns) isn't far from the convention center at 47 West Polk Street. If any locals know of any good spots to feed my yarn stash please let me know :)
Sorry I'm so late to the party. My fav yarn store is Windy Knitty. It's not close to BEA but if you're gonna be out and about...https://www.windyknitty.com
Thanks! I don't know if I'll be able to go that far but I'll see if I can convince my driver that a good LYS is as important as books :)
