...is this too many? I can narrow down my list!

There is no such thing as too many! Remebering that I already have around ~300 books in there so it will only increase your chances the more you add haha.

I will leave out Watchman though because I just read that in December! Great book, though not quite as good as Mockingbird.

You must realize that I have done this partially to add to my already hefty "to read" list as well, maybe a tad slytherin of me?

Nah. That's resourceful, I'd say that's pretty Ravenclaw. I understand having serpentine tendencies though... ;)

This is an amazing idea! I wish I would have thought of it :-) I'll just add one book since I already got my pick this past month.

is stephen king 11/22/63 too long?

I'm a huge fan of The Bone Season. Casino Royale would be a good book to read. Other good ideas: Tender Is The Night, Clockwork by Philip Pullman is excellent though it's just a short story, Ocean at the End of the Lane, Neverwhere, Stardust, The Old Man and The Sea, The Secret Life of Houdini, Devil In The White City, The Night Circus.... Just to name a few suggestions... **Scampers back to her library**

It's certainly a big tome! One of my friends just lent it to me. I have to at LEAST finish my current big tome (Winter of the World by Ken Follett) first. And I've actually never read anything else by Stephen King (no interest in horror). But I'm really fascinated and looking forward to this one.

Note that the book jar pick is already done, however please do continue posting here for myself and others who create jars and need more books to add to them!

Also, I LOVE Ken Follett. Eye of the Needle is one of my favorite books ever written. The Century Trilogy is worth every page, though I didn't enjoy the third book AS much because he jammed a lot of stuff into one book. Follett could easily have written a quartet of books so he could've focused more on the war in Korea/Vietnam/Cold War as well as a fourth book to hit upon the 90's and middle eastern conflicts. The characters interactions with the Civil Rights movement in #3 is very good though!

I also highly recommend Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, which are also worth every page! And lastly (I SWEAR) from Follett I would read Jackdaws for some awesome female main characters, this was the first Follett book I ever read and love it to death.

As a warning for those who've never read Follett, or only read his recent books, some of the older books (Pillars, Jackdaws, Eye of the Needle) get a little graphic with sex scenes, but not Fifty Shades graphic. Just a friendly warning :-)

ME TOO! I've read all of the ones you mention (except Edge of Eternity, obviously, since that comes after WotW which I am reading now) and I just love them. Such great storytelling and unforgettable characters...especially the bad guys!! You just know that they are going to meet impressively appropriate demises and can't wait to find out what happens. :)

They also work REALLY well on audiobook! I do several long solo drives a year (mostly the NJ-Cleveland stretch) and my favorite authors for those are probably Follett and Grisham.

One question: would you guys be opposed to a non-fiction book? Just curious, as I look at options...

Hi Marisa! The point of this book club and having a different member choose a book each month is so that we have an eclectic list of books for our book club. This brings people to new books that they may have never picked up on their own. Anything goes!
