CJ (thebookdream) | 47 comments What do you all think of the recent changes to the Nook service? I hardly use the apps or movies so it doesn't bother me too much.

I've been watching the discontinuation of the Nook service in the UK with some interest. I'm glad to see if Nook goes under here at least it looks like they'll try not to leave their customers high and dry.

Christopher Conn (cmconn) | 135 comments I have never thought much of the nook apps. If you have a nook HD or later you can get better apps for free through google play so there is no reason to buy them.

B&N is just changing with the times. I think they are trying to get out of the tablet business and get back to selling books, whether they be print or audio or ebooks. The current nook is just a Samsung tablet with special nook software. I don't think they care what hardware you buy as long as you buy their ebooks.

Christine US (christineus) | 18 comments I have a TV and laptop, so I don't care about the apps. I just use it as an e-reader.

With that said, I would've felt MUCH better if they had flat out stated "and nothing we do is going to affect your ability to use it simply as an e-reader. These changes we are implementing aren't somehow going to screw up other things"

Nicole Don't use the apps either so I really don't care that they're doing away with that. What I really want is to be able to access my books via PC and Mac again.

Thera Lewis (thera1) | 124 comments I have the newest glowlight nook. No apps, No internet. That's just the way I like it.

Christopher Conn (cmconn) | 135 comments I wish they would bring back the ability to read books on the web. They always say they are working on it but they're not.

Rebekah Crain | 88 comments I'm with Christine. I'm pretty certain the changes won't affect me any as my Nook is one of the original ones, and therefore just for books not aps or tv. However, B&N announcing, without a doubt, that there would be no snafu in that regard would have been nice.

CJ (thebookdream) | 47 comments Well, they did announce the closing of the U.K. Nook store, but they have transferred all their Nook users to another company. So that's somewhat promising. I guess.

Has anyone tried using the Internet Wayback Machine to access an older version of the B & N site and see if you can use web read through that?

Britney (tarheels) | 80 comments Once in awhile I use an app on jy Nook but never watch movies. It probably won't affect me any.

Christopher Conn (cmconn) | 135 comments Sometimes I watch netflix movies on my nook HD but I use the google app not the one that came from B&N. It does take a lot of battery power so I have to recharge it a little earlier. The picture quality on the nook HD is very good.
