Hi, everyone! :)
Just a reminder that we will begin Passenger on Friday! If you haven't picked it up yet, make sure you do so before then. I'm so excited to get started and talk about it with all of you.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. And, Happy Easter! <3

Today is the day *rubs hands together with glee*
So I have some pretty awful news but for the time being thetravelingbookworm as an account on instagram has been deactivated. I reached out to instagram to fix the problem but for now I have my fingers crossed and hope that things will be resolved in the next few days!

YAY! So excited to start reading with everyone.
Oh no! That's terrible. Did Instagram deactivate it?

Hope they get it sorted for you soon!!
I'm looking forward to reading this!!
I've created discussion boards on a set of chapters. However, if you prefer talking more generally about a book rather than discussing a set of chapters, you may do so here!
Happy reading, everyone!
Happy reading, everyone!
Yeah, the other day I went to post a picture and when I went to refresh my page they notified me that I had been deactivated. There has been lots of panicking in the last day or so!
Nice to have this to look forward too :)

We don't have a hashtag. But, if you (or anyone else) want to use one, #TheRevolvingShelf is a good one since we can easily see your posts! :)
Amanda wrote: "Sorry if I've missed it somewhere. But do we have a hashtag to use on IG for this months read?"

That's terrible. I've actually heard of things like that happening on IG. They need to sort that stuff out so that people don't lose their content, which they've been putting effort and time into.

Hi, everyone!
I'm about half way through Passenger. I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of the writing or story. Do any of you feel the same way?

I agree wholeheartedly. I've tried really hard to get into it these past couple of days, but I feel as though I'm forcing myself to read it. The more I read, the less intriguing it becomes. Sadly, this may be a DNF for me.

My overall review of the book is mixed. I also found it fairly difficult to get into at the beginning but at around the half way point I found the pages flipped faster and by the end I wanted MORE!
That being said I think part of the problem was that my expectations were so high when it came to the book. I think my favourite part of the book was the time traveling premise and the detailed accounts of each of these places.

I agree with you. I just finished it today and I started reading it on the 6th. It took me a really long time to get into the beginning. But by the end I didn't want to stop reading! I really can't wait for book 2 now, especially with that cliffhanger.
I think the book was quite hyped and perhaps that was its downfall for me. Unfortunately, I gave up on it. I marked it DNF around 50%, but I hope to revisit it at a later date. I will take your thoughts into consideration!
The time-traveling aspect is compelling. But, to me, it was a bit disorganized and (at times) disjointed. Did you (or anyone else) feel this way?

Interesting. I marked it DNF around 50%. At which point did you feel it started to pick up?

It was definitely after the halfway mark. I felt like much of the first half could have been condensed. It gets a lot more interesting closer towards the end and then ends in a cliffhanger.
Good to know! Yes, much of the first half is incredibly drawn out. The pace was very slow. And, I felt a reading slump coming as a result. Nevertheless, I might pick it up at a later date. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Maren! <3

I totally agree! I was just kind of confused the whole time about how exactly the time traveling was supposed to work. Here's a link to my review on my blog!
Yes, I think that is largely the reason why I couldn't get into the book. The time travel aspect was very confusing. I felt bewildered at the end of each chapter. Your review on your blog is spot on!
I didn't find much to enjoy about it. It saddens me to DNF a book, especially our first book club read. But, when it starts to feel like a chore, one must put it down.

We've decided that our first book club read will be Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. I'm so excited to get this book club started and talk books with all of you like-minded individuals. Now, let's get our read on! :D
