I'm guessing since it says 2016 that's your intention...

What do y'all see as the difference between these two?A book set on another planet
A book set on an imaginary world
Using Star Wars as an example: Would Hoth be another planet, or an imaginary world? I guess it could be both, since it technically doesn't exist.
Whereas Mars or Venus do exist, even if we're simply imaging societies there.

Just my two cents worth....I would use The Martian Chronicles for the first and any Discworld book for the second.
I'm reading the Discworld books in order, Pyramids is next up in my TBR. Martian Chronicles is also in my TBR. Haven't read the latter since high school.
In which order though, theres a fair few different orders to approach Discworld in, publishing order not always the best one.
Publishing order and I know about the other orders, but publishing order allows me to see how Pratchett built Discworld from the ground up so to speak.
Have you tried Strata, one of his pre Discworld books. Not the best scifi but you get a first glimpse of Discworld in it. Interesting to see where the idea started out at least
Paul wrote: "Have you tried Strata, one of his pre Discworld books. Not the best scifi but you get a first glimpse of Discworld in it. Interesting to see where the idea started out at least"Ooh I have Strata on CD somewhere - must dig it out for a relisten.
Its not his best work but definitely interesting.
I think I'll definitely have to reread more Discworld. I've read two in the last year which is very low for me.

I have a fondness for Granny Weatherwax, her struggles with broom riding always make me laugh. One of the reason I bought the first Legends anthology edited by Robert Silverberg was for the Granny short story, the other 2 stories that sealed the deal on that HC were the stories by Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind.
Granny is a great character and only gets more interesting as the books go on. Her and Vimes are possibly two of the most interesting characters as they both have a struggle going on in there heads to do what is right when the wrong side is so tempting.
Gary wrote: "I'm reading the Discworld books in order, Pyramids is next up in my TBR. Martian Chronicles is also in my TBR. Haven't read the latter since high school."I re-read Martian Chronicles and F451 a few years ago when Bradbury passed away. I thought both held up really well.
My favourite Bradbury is still Something Wicked, followed by The Illustrated Man but I agree MC and F451 have aged well.
I'd go with October Country, as I like his nastier side. Something Wicked was uneven, the best stuff being swamped by the sap. F451 is spectacular though.
Can we still join this challenge and are we allowed to backdate? If we can back date, is it to the March date when the challenge was posted, or is it for any book read and completed in 2016 since it is the 2016 challenge? I'm asking, because I've already read a few that qualify and I've just joined this group.
Thanks!
