Around the Year in 52 Books discussion

I read this book as my science fiction for PopSugar, and unfortunately it was not what I expected. The book is about a man named Brock whose life is in shambles -- his marriage is rocky, his business is going under, and he has a bad relationship with his brother. Brock learns that he can use lucid dreaming to go back in his own history and speak to his younger self, advising him about what choices to make.

I was very excited to read this book because the concept seemed so interesting, but I was disappointed with how it was executed. I hadn't realized going into it that this was a "Christian fiction" book, and at the risk of sounding discriminatory, that aspect of it really put me off. I have nothing against reading about other religions or about characters who were very religious provided that it is well-written and an interesting story. For me, the religious elements overshadowed the rest of the story and as someone who is neither Christian nor religious, it made it really hard for me to relate to the characters.
