Review Group discussion

This is a special celebratory, genre specific group. In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.
Genre: Children’s and YA
Fiction/non-fiction aimed at under 18 year olds.
Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate preferences. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – even within the same genre, we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Make sure you have an author profile set up before you join and that your book is available for sale on amazon (not pre-0rder).

Please let me know as you sign up if you have been reviewed by, or have reviewed another author in the group. It is permissible to review an author more than once if a different book is available, but reciprocal reviews within the group are strictly prohibited.

As mentioned before, I am switching from the fantasy group.

I would like to join in with two sequels of My Wizard Buddy series. I hope Round One and Round Two reviewers can review Book Two and Round Three and Round Four reviewers can review Book Three. They're pretty much stand-alone.

I would love to add my children's book to the group, so long as picture books for preschoolers are okay?

If so then my book is Victoria Ivory Pearl vs Selfishness, it is based on stories written by grade 5/6 kids at a local school, however the story is written entirely by me.

I've read a different book by Scott Spotson before, and I've read Loralee Evans' books about Felicity.

Hi Ronesa, unless you can review another book of Loralee's I don't think its going to be possible, but none of Loralee's other books appear to be children's ones.
However, ff you can work out an order where you both review Scott, and you and Loralee don't review each other at all, be my guest.

Hi, I would love to be a part of this with my YA novellas, Blue Waters and Black Waters, my only concern is, it is a heavier series. And I want to make sure all would be okay with that. This Tainted Water series brings awareness to human trafficking/sexual slavery. Some have issues with such subjects, and I completely understand that.

Hi India, as this started as a children's book round, and I added YA to make up the numbers, I think your books maybe a little beyond what the other authors are expecting. The sign-up message says this group is aimed at books for under 18 year olds, so although your protagonist is 17 at the start of the book, I think the themes are too strong for such a round.

I think it'd be better off in one of our more traditional 18+ rounds.

BTW, personally, I'd love to read it sometime.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to accept PDF. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

When you have posted your reviews, please post the three links to your reviews in this thread.

All reviews must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum). Happy reviewing, everyone :)

You can download a free Kindle reader app from Amazon to read mobis with, or use a program such as Calibre to convert it to a different format. :)
