How do you handle a book that you've read for review that you thought was terrible? I finished a book for review a few weeks ago and I have practically nothing good to say about it. It was a struggle for me to even get through it and I had considered not finishing. Now I've written a review but I'm still debating whether I should post it or just let the writer know that a review wasn't possible. My review really tore this book down (unreal characters, historical inaccuracies, plot issues, etc) but there's no other way for me to do it honestly. HELP!
I think what matters more is if you're hard on the book and not the author. Then again, I don't really know, because I struggle with negative reviews as well (even though they're much easier to write).
Personally, I don't have a probably writing a review for a "bad" book. I give a summary of the book and point out the things I didn't like and why. I try to mention something that I liked or thought was done well when possible. Just make sure you read it through before posting to make sure you are comfortable with what you are saying.
