Emily's Poems About Whatever
Fingers In a Glove
Her fingers flew across the keys
She bled into the piano her memories
For once she had no worries, she could finally forget
As she played half of a duet
He could hear from out the door
The song was beautiful but it meant more
He wove his words among each note
And created a place where he could just float
She heard his voice and her heart skipped a beat
He made all her imperfections smooth and neat
He'd held her close to his heart all along
Had loved and hated her but still sang their song
Maybe what used to be can't be again
Maybe they couldn't recreate how they had once been
The general's daughter and the disobedient slave's love
But they still fit together like fingers in a glove
Glassy EyesHer ran again through all her lies
He pictured her glassy eyes
She wished she had told him the truth from the start
She wished she hadn't kept up the act that shattered her heart
He wished he could piece her back together again
He knew it couldn't be the same as it was then
She'd made so many grave mistakes
She'd played her precious game for the highest stakes
He could still hear of phantom of the sounds they'd made together
They'd be the ringtone of his thoughts forever
She'd felt the strings of fate pull so many times
But it seems the strings of fate snap sometimes
He'd lose his country but that couldn't compare
To the loss of the girl with the gold-spun hair
She had lost her beloved father's trust
Doing everything she thought she must
Maybe this was how it was meant to be
Him escaping by the sea
Her locked away in a prison wagon
With her fox's mind and the heart of a dragon
In The MeadowFeeling so far away
Lost in a sea of thoughts
Wondering why she'd had to stray
Swarmed with regret
At least she could say
That she'd gone down fighting
And now she'd been left to lay
In the meadow she'd loved
When the flowers bloomed in May
And when the dewdrops kissed the petals
Sooner or later
She'd be forgotten
Each day she'd come closer and closer
To ending this way
Maybe if she'd be wiser
Maybe she would've lived
At least she could relive each Spring shower
In the Meadow she loved so dearly
But then she hadn't had the power
So she'd lay in her meadow for all of eternity
Sea of ConfusionHow could something so wrong feel so right?
Just another wave in her sea of confusion
This moment could only last for tonight
And then she'd be left alone to swim in that vast ocean
Maybe accepting someone else's idea of honor isn't right
And maybe people in the light can't see into the dark
Maybe they weren't meant to win this fight
One of these arrows would have to hit its mark
They'd stormed in like a sudden night
They'd brought explosions and chaos
The day had lost all its light
The odds became a dice toss
She'd thought he'd been lost
To the mighty explosion
She thought that must be the cost
And a tsunami rippled through her confusion
The Lady in the TowerA story to be told,
She couldn't remember how old,
She told it to herself each night,
When she remembered everything she'd lost in the fight
A beautiful lady who lives in a tower
She has all she could need, she has mighty power
But she keeps her heart in a porcelain box
One night a thief slips in, clever as a fox
The thief leaves her sleeping
And runs with the box he plans on keeping
But he doesn't know what he holds in his hands
But the lady knows, and she's angry enough to shake the lands
But when she finds him frightened in a cave
She chooses, maybe her heart was something she gave
Perhaps he could keep it there
For the lady certainly could share
Why?How do we know what is right and wrong?
Why do we never question?
We just nod our heads and move along.
How do we know who to believe?
Who lies and who tells the truth?
Maybe like this we're too easy to deceive.
Why don't we just think fully for ourselves?
Why don't we just act like us?
We just blend in like nondescript books on shelves.
Why don't we make the best of each other's quirks?
Why do we encourage uniqueness, but then fight it?
I guess we've just decided this works.
BetrayalHow could he?
Angry was all she would be.
A fire to her gaze.
Her realization an escaped maze.
She saw him clearly.
He had hurt the friend she loved so dearly.
He would pay.
She'd find some way.
A trap to lay.
A game to play.
How best to punish him?
She'd be sure not to act on just a whim.
She'd have her payback.
Her anger as stinging as a whack.
He had played her friend like a game.
Maybe she'd do the same.
The SkyThe beautiful sky
The stars that refuse to die
While we wonder why.
The lit crescent moon
It'll vanish sometime soon
Birds will sing their tune
The sun's blinding light
Chasing away the dark night
A marvelous fight
Sunset and Sunrise
The moon and sun's slow demise
Neither truly dies
BrokenShards flying
People crying
Something broken
Panicked words spoken
Shattered glass
Slowly time will pass
A pained yelp
Rushing to help
Blood dripping
The world tipping
Dizziness taking control
The floor begins to roll
Can't see
Everything's blurry
Looking around
Can't hear a sound
Stumbling around
Falling to the ground
Heads turning
Stomach churning
Vision blackening
Dull hearing
Too quick to comprehend
The glass they begin to mend
ArtA wondrous creation
It doesn't warrant explanation
Created by a mind, so beautiful, so smart
Made for art
A soul made for learning
A heart full of yearning
Always making,
The world's theirs for the taking
They're made to dance in the rain
With beauty they can't contain
It comes from inside,
Where the best of them hide
Overflowing with color and words,
Meant to fly as high as the birds
They hold the keys to infinite doors,
And when I say "theirs," I mean "yours"
Love TriangleShe thought love triangles weren't for real.
Two have stolen her heart,
When she thought it was something only one could steal.
Now they each hold their own part.
She never liked someone so much before.
None of the little crushes she'd always had compare.
Now she's left wondering if she could feel more.
When this dies, it'll surely leave her heart with a tear.
One has red hair and blue eyes.
He towers over everyone,
With his eyes the color of stormy skies.
He can't so easily make her laugh, but they certainly have fun.
The other has blue eyes,
The color of a robin's egg.
He makes her laugh so hard in zero tries.
The world is a circle hole, and he vies to be the square peg.
The Girl and the DevilShe told them she was leaving
They never asked where
She walked alone into the night
Headed right for the demon's lair
She let the tears fall when no one could see
And she went where no one would dare
Where he held her as she cried
Until her pain became too much to bear
He gave her the only thing he could
He offered her something he hoped would help repair
The hole in her heart
That was an ever-growing tear
He offered her power beyond imagining
But there was a price to pay that wasn't so unfair
She'd have to help destroy the world
But she couldn't make herself care
For the world had been so unkind
So she would set the world on fire, light it up like a flare
Child of the CosmosThe child danced in the night,
She played in the skies,
She held a galaxy in her palm,
With stars in her eyes
The little one twirled all around,
Stirring up the glittering moon dust,
As she watched the skies shimmer,
With a never-ending lust
She was a child of the cosmos,
Stars tangled in her hair,
Always smiling,
For the stars followed her everywhere
Fairy TalesThe fairy tales you've been told are lies
Made to make some weak in your little eyes
But that one mermaid sacrificed herself so the prince could live
Instead of killing him to save her life, she gave all she could give
The girl spelled into sleep, was not waken by a prince,
As you were told, and believed ever since.
She was awaken by her child
But what fun was that? Makes the story ever so mild
The girl with skin as white as snow
Was ordered dead by her own mother, unlike the story you know
But the huntsman took her body to play with, finding her dead
Maybe that's not the best image for a young one's head
Don't believe everything you hear,
The truth isn't made for a child's ear
Don't believe everything you're told,
The truth belongs to the bold
This one is still a WIPDead Inside
He saw the moment when the life left her eyes
Even though she wasn't dead
He saw he'd shattered her, with half-truths and lies
There was nothing he could've said
He saw her explode with fiery rage and pain
He watched her go up in a furious flame
Nothing about the girl he saw was sane
And worst of all, he knew he was to blame
FireheartThe young girl called Fireheart
She had been beautiful and smart
She doomed her kingdom without knowing
But no matter what, she kept on going
She grew older,
And with each year she was forced to grow colder
She learned to fight, she learned to kill
She learned to use pain to bend people to her will
But the strings of fate had pulled again
She was free to leave where her home had once been
But her master had plenty of greed
And made sure she'd never be freed
The queen who worked in the slave mines for a year
And hadn't shed a single tear
But she fought for her freedom
And then for her kingdom
The one who would rattle the stars
Just to make each person tremble, from her world to ours
A Dance Through The NightShe was in a glittering ballroom.
It was bright,
Not an ounce of gloom.
As she danced through the night.
Her eyes alight with the joy
of being young and free.
Up on the balcony stood a boy,
Going to her, he said, "Who might you be?"
"I am dust, and wind. I have no name,
I am the darkness when the sun doesn't shine,"
She was wildfire, not the least bit tame.
He said, "So for a dance or two, let me call you Mine,"
RevolutionWe stood up because we thought no one would
We held our ground when they thought no one could
We protected what was right
But here we are, meeting our ends tonight
You can't stand against the gods
Sometimes you try to defy the odds
But here we our at our end
We broke something you cannot mend
We destroyed the world silently
We became exactly what we swore never to be
It wasn't our fault it went so wrong
But it seems we were the villains all along
We thought they were meant to be the enemy
It wasn't until it was too late that we could finally see
We took the world down without a sound
We burned it all to the ground
We scream out with our last breath
Our voices ragged as we try to fight our death
We've watched as our loved one dies
We've watched with tears leaking out of our eyes
We fought for a prize we should not win
We committed more than one dangerous sin
But it was all in vain
We drove ourselves insane
They say before you start a war
You better know what you're fighting for
We threw our cares to the breeze
Maybe that's how we brought the world to its knees
But this is how the world ends,
Not with a bang.
But with a w h i m p e r
I love the emotions in your poems! A lot of them have unique imagery too. My favorite is Fingers In a Glove. I also really like the concept of The Lady in the Tower and thought it was cute ^^You're great at coming up with rhymes, but one thing I would suggest is playing around with poems that don't rhyme (or don't always!) and focusing on flow! :) Someone suggested this to me once and it helped me a lot!

Thanks! I sometimes play around with free-style poems, but I've found they're not as much fun for me to write and I'm a lot better when I make them rhyme xP
Got a new cat! He's already got a poem written about himBoo
Little black paws creep into the room
A little tail, peeking over the bed
He strolls on in, purring happily
He pokes up his little head
And lets out a pathetic sound
He jumps on up, quick as, well, a cat
A little black blur, come to cuddle
He walks on over, taking his place on your neck
And melting you heart into a puddle
A tongue of sandpaper, cleaning your face
He stares with bright green eyes
Laying on his side
You can see his baby fur
And feel his silken hide
While his swishing fluffy tail tickles your nose
Soon he gets up, headed for the corner
To raid your trash for something to play
He tears up what he finds
To your dismay
But he's too cute to stay mad at for long
This one is inspired by Feyre in ACOMAF (Not exactly about her, but pretty accurate) It's pretty much her point of view at the beginning of the book :PKilling From Within
Something's tearing me up from within
It lurks beneath my skin
Where no one can see
That it's killed the girl I used to be
I'm dying but no one knows
Because it's not something that always shows
They can't see me disappear
I'm screaming but no one can hear
I need someone to see it in my eyes
I need them to call out all my lies
Because maybe I'm not okay
Like I always say
I'm drowning and nobody can see
That they're doing nothing to help me
Everyone's pushing my head under
But the worst is they don't know that they killed her
I used to be someone else
But that's not the story everyone tells
I tore myself apart inside
Until that girl in me died
I sacrificed it all for them
But now I'm just their pretty little gem
There's nothing I can do
Just make it end, I beg you
Please someone look into my eyes
And tell me I'm not alright
Just wrap me in your arms
Be the one in my world who causes no harm
Someone has to understand
If no one does I have a dagger in my hand
So easy to turn on myself
Than to kill another innocent elf
Someone needs to hold me tight
As the dreams haunt me through the night
I need someone to help me
I'm begging you, please see

UntitledThe prince who loved to sail
Who was at home on the sea
Maybe you don't know him
And his sailing academy
The explorer who showed his right hand
While his left carried out his true plans
You no doubt know him
And his lies to all the lands
A sailor who proved the truth
Whose name lives on today
Maybe he didn't discover anything
But he made his mark in his own way
The king content to follow the crowd
And take the path of the known
You don't know his name do you?
I guess he didn't make good use of that throne
Can you name them all? Maybe not
Prince Henry, Columbus, Amerigo ring a bell?
The next did nothing special, nothing different
His name I won't tell
To be remembered you can't be the same
History proves it well enough
Following the crowd is so easy
You'll remember the ones who did what was truly tough
Imaginary FriendRemember me as I fade away
I was your friend once upon a time
In a time when we'd play all day
And every night we'd read a nursery rhyme
But you're all grown up
What about me?
I'm fading away and you just don't remember
Was I really just imaginary?
Lost and forgotten
You're not a little kid anymore
Who will I play with?
Am I just to be left, forgotten forevermore?
You never talk to me
You don't even care
You can't hear my cries for help
We did make such a good pair
But I guess that's over
I guess this is goodbye
I'm fading and forgotten
I'll see you again, sometime
Found this, decided it would make a good poem :P
Hourglass
An hourglass full of doom
A mermaid in the top
With water filling the room
But it's sifting out from below
Where a human is stuck
She's drowning and dying
She pounds on the glass, with no luck
In her last moments to live
She reaches her webbed hand
Down through the hole
Reaching for the stranger, in this moment, a friend
She struggles to stay in the water
The girl reaches up and meets her grasp
She holds on for dear life,
Knowing each breath could be her last
Her head plunges under, no more air to breathe
And they died together,
Because neither wanted the other to die alone
And nothing else mattered
Because in the end they weren't all alone
The Song of DeathThe war raged on around her,
Blood sloshing at her feet,
Every blow aimed to kill, to maim,
She brought up her mighty sword to meet
She shut out the screams
As people fell, and didn't rise
She took in the death and despair surrounding her
And fought the urge to close her eyes
She thought of why she was fighting,
Why she had to survive such pain
But the soldiers never stopped charging
And the arrows came down like rain
She closed out the world, just for a moment
A second of peace in the wildfire of a battle
She let herself pretend the rivers weren't flowing with blood
And that men weren't slaughtering one another like cattle
She made her hope a shield around her heart
As she ended the lives of innocents
Forced to fight a battle that was not their own
They stormed the camp, stealing people from tents
Women and children, lined up to die
Day after day the death reigned
And even the victors prayed for its end
But it was too late, their souls already stained
Somewhere in the mix, they'd paid
For each soul they'd stolen
There hearts were torn in shreds
The faces of their prey never to be forgotten
They haunted her dreams,
The ghosts of what she'd done
Sometimes she remembered those dead,
And wished she'd been one
Once Upon a TimeOnce upon a time...
A boy and a girl from opposite worlds met
No worries, this isn't just another story of Romeo and Juliet
The boy was an angel,
White wings and golden halo
He was a bringer of all things good, as pure and white as snow
But she was a demon, full of fire
She let her evil out in flames
She showed all of her darkness and played evil games
They fell in love
And fire met snow
How stupid of them, how couldn't they know?
Once upon a time
A demon fell in love with an angel
And it did not end well
Poor little princessNo knight to be seen
Coming along, heart set on rescuing
Poor little princess
To face the darkness alone
By herself to defend her throne
Poor little princess
Pitted against the dragon
But she'll be brave until she's done
Poor little princess, the evil queen now
Because all evil queens are princesses forced to be brave
Because they couldn't be bothered to save
I adore this one so much it reminds me of my favorite book series and I just really love the concept of an evil queen with inner struggle!!
Maybe you don't believe in magicBut we live on a planet of blue
Spinning around a ball of fire
Next to a moon that controls the sea
And why don't you believe in magic, tell me
But magic is in the little things
The way words on a dead tree
Make us cry and laugh and cheer
The way friends make eye contact, and burst into laughter
So hard it hurts
There's definitely magic
In the silent conversations we all have
In the way we do anything for the ones we love
So if you don't believe in magic
Look a little closer, or live without it, you pick
IdkRest in Peace, little rabbit,
So gentle and good,
Rest here little rabbit,
In your ever-loving wood
And Rest in Peace
Lovely deer,
Rest in Peace my darling,
For you are forever welcome here
Rest In Peace, clever fox
Come into the tree's open arms
Rest In Peace, little fox,
You who never harms
Rest In Peace, big bear,
Who only wanted some honey
Rest In Peace, my little friend
But why'd you eat the bunny?
Rest In Peace, poor raccoon
Left to run the streets alone,
Rest In Peace,
You without a home
And Rest In Pieces, Horrid Human
Who do you think killed the raccoon, deer, fox, and bear?
Rest In Pieces little human,
Because now you're not welcome anywhere
We'll meet in the inbetweenWhere the sky meets the sea
A place of beauty never before seen
I'll meet you there
Where the stars become waves of light
And the beach becomes the clouds
With water of pure night
We'll meet in the inbetween
Where the lighthouse is the North Star
Guiding you to it
I'll meet you there, no matter how far
Because I have no power to resist
I'll see you in the inbetween
Where reality fades away
The world becomes a dream
Of the stars and sea, singing a song that I can't resist
One day at a timeI want so badly to walk in the light
Your life was mine
Now you're gone, but I think I did what was right
Even you said days don't last forever
With a promise to fight
Sometimes the sun sets earlier,
How right you were, now I've lost this beautiful light
I saw you one last time before I let you go
I knew what I wanted would come with a cost
I've made mistakes, I know, I know
But this time I wouldn't, even if you were what I lost
I've hurt you before, and I won't let it happen again
You won't remember me, and that's okay
I can't undo the pain I caused you then
I only ever harmed you anyway

Anyone can give me feedback on it if they'd like :P
