Okay this is really strange. I posted a picture of the Prince of Thrones hardcover I borrowed from the library, and I said that it had a distinct cologne scent from a previous reader. Well this book from the same library has the exact same cologne scent! I must be accidentally tracking down someone's reading list!
This is very visual and generally vivid. I like the style. The culture is smoothly introduced through the main character's natural thoughts and memories. There's nothing so far that jars the reader out of the ambiance of the setting and the POV of the character.

For those of you who are wondering what Wuxia is, it's defined by BestFantasyBooks.com as, "action, adventure, and fantasy all rolled into one. Succinctly described as a martial art adventure. The term Wuxia can be translated as martial-arts chivalry or martial arts heroes." It goes on to be more specific: "The modern Wuxia has a protagonist that rejects the Chinese family system and is a symbol of personal freedom. Wuxia is a popular film genre, made famous in the mainstream west by the hit Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
I'm a huge fan of Asian literature, so I wonder if I'll like this - I hope I do! I have read nothing related to martial arts at all, and definitely nothing Asian-fantasy, just straight up lit. Excited!
