This is very hard for me. My favorite Koontz is often the book I am currently reading. Usually I say my favorite is Watchers but I loved this months selections ... The Door to December and Odd Hours . Both of the Christopher Snow books are also favorites and From the Corner of His Eye Now where is yours Lana?
My two favorite ones are Phantoms and Oddkins. I have trouble picking just one. I really enjoy reading them all. I think it is amazing that so many different books came from the writer. Really glad he loves to write!
Ive had Dean Koontz books for a long time but i just recently started reading them. Ive only read a few but so far my fav is The Taking followed close behind is What the Night Knows. The Taking was the first Koontz book I ever read so it has a special place in my heart that and it was the first book in years that kept me glued to the pages while reading it.
One of my best favorite Koontz books is The Husband
A man's wife is kidnapped for a large ransom, and he will stop at nothing to get her back! I love his devotion to his wife and his determination to do whatever he must do for her return. Plus the tension throughout....
I also love Innocence . Would love for either of these to come for group reads!
My #1 has been Life Expectancy ever since I first read it. My other favorites move around a bit, but Life Expectancy has stayed at number one. Life Expectancy is our May Group Read so if anyone is ready for this - now is the perfect time :-)
Somehow I missed seeing this thread until now. Here is my current top five:
1. Life Expectancy
2. From the Corner of His Eye
3. By the Light of the Moon
4. Cold Fire
5. Relentless
As I re-read, I sometimes make my adjustments and it's gets difficult to rank beyond five.
Other favorites: The Taking, The Voice of the Night, A Big Little Life, Lightning, Hideaway, One Door Away From Heaven
There are lists on Goodreads where you can vote for your favorite Dean Koontz Books. Here is the one with the most activity: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

Watchers will always be my favorite. It has the best character development out of all of Koontz's work, in my opinion.
My top 5: Watchers, Whispers, Strangers, Twilight Eyes, Lightning. Yes these are all from earlier times but I can re-read these over & over while I struggle to finish his current fiction.
Koontz is my favorite author, it's hard to list the 5 top books.1. The Bad Place(2004) - NYT #1
2. Odd Hours(2008) - Odd Thomas #4
3. Midnight(2004) - NYT #1
4. The Husband(2006) - NYT #1
5. The Face(2004)

I think Whispers is often overlooked. I've only read the book once, but I really enjoyed it :-)

I think it's terrific that so many of us just can't quite identify ONE book as our favorite. That shows how we see Koontz is so multi-talented. I'd be particularly curious if anyone wants to tell us what about a particular book made it special for you. For example right now I have just finished reading Odd Interlude and I can't really identify why I like this book so much (not my favorite Koontz but one of many). This book is amusing and in many ways lighter than some of the darker Odd books so maybe that is what I like about it.

Yes! I love Odd Interlude :-)
For many of my favorites, I am really drawn to the ideas of time travel and alternate realities. This is why FRINGE is my favorite television show and some of my favorite Koontz books would be: Relentless, Life Expectancy, By the Light of the Moon, From the Corner of His Eye, Cold Fire etc.
The next Dean Koontz book I will be reading is Odd Apocalypse and I remember it having a time travel element to it so I'm very excited to revisit. I have only read Odd Apocalypse one time when it was a new release.
