Please let me know if you plan on attending the convention in San Diego. I only reserved five rooms at the hotel, but if more are coming I will change the number.

Jane, I hope to come, but it's impossible for me to make any plans right now.

I'm coming, and Lynn and I usually share a room. Do the rooms have two beds?

But I've no idea what the situation with Leif will be.

I am going to try for one day. I won't need a room since I live nearby. We are expecting a grandchild around that time, and a 50 year class reunion, , so hoping to sneak in one day. Ruth, maybe my husband will be available to help with Leif. We can see as the time gets closer.

I don't know for sure yet if I'll be able to attend, but I hope to share a room with Sherry if I can be there.

Thanks, Carol. That's sweet of you. I'm sure is daughter could probably stay with him, bu his condition may be such that I don't want to leave him. Well just have to see.

Sherry, I will have to check about the number of beds. I thought Lynn wasn't coming so I think they are just double beds, not two beds in a room.

I'm seriously thinking of coming. I haven't been to a convention since Boston! I saw Sherry last October because I was in Asheville to attend another event and it was so nice to see a CR in person again.

I won't decide for another month or so as we have other family & job related travel to book and transitions at Chris's job to consider.

I hope that you can come!

MIGHT actually be able to do this FINALLY. Will be back ASAP to say -- Jim is off to a meeting tonight so will have to talk it over later.

I'm going to be in San Diego that weekend doing a baseball thing with my husband, but would love to join the group for lunch Fri. or Sat. Might that be possible?

I would like to meet up for lunch or dinner on Saturday also. When ever there are the most people available.

I just made both the hotel and my plane reservations. I took a room with two beds in case Lynn can come. I really hope she does.

There's a chance I may take a car trip down south around that time, and would stay with relatives either in Oceanside or Valencia in the area. At some point will there be a schedule of planned things so if I'm down there I can see what's convenient to attend?

Thursday night, we will meet for dinner.
Friday, we will tour the new library and probably visit a museum in Balboa Park.
Saturday, we will go to the zoo and then come to my house for the readings.
Sunday, we will have breakfast somewhere.

I need to plan for lunch and dinner reservations.

Unfortunately, the chances of my being able to attend this year are pretty slim. I really wish I could be there, but I don't feel like a request for days off of classes would be very well received in the current climate at the university.

The following year (2017-18) will probably be my last before retirement, though, so I plan to go to Asheville regardless. I'll just tell them they can stuff it if I have to miss class to do it and they don't like it. :)

Oh, shoot, Lynn. Well, we'll have to plan on having a mini-meeting during your fall break.

Vic and I will attend Thursday through Sunday. We are renting a car, so can ferry 2 passengers around.

I would love to join you all for Friday lunch.

I think I will be able to come. Leif's daughter Karin has volunteered to care for him while I'm gone. I certainly do need some R&R.

If I could join you all at Jane's house, that is probably all I will be able to manage. Even then might not be able to do that. Depends on how I feel. Having major health issues at the moment. I am hoping to be better by then.

Well, I am hoping to persuade more of you to come to San Diego. I just booked a tour of the new downtown San Diego library, and a friend who is on the library board is leading the tour. It is an amazing building with seven stories that include a school and a rare book room.

Okay -- hold onto your hats -- I just booked my room -- Jim will deliver me to hotel in the morning to drop off my bag and then bring me to the library to meet you all! YES -- that is what I said -- I am there two full days and nights and Sunday brunch. I have to find a reading and try not to shake in my shoes when I read. I know I will see a couple faces I know but lots of first time in person meetings coming up. Yikes!
