When Women Ruled the World: Six Queens of Egypt by Kara Cooney - A non-fiction book about six powerful women rulers of ancient Egypt. This book contains a lot of great historical informaiton about the queens who have not received the same amount of scholarship as the kings.

If you want something lighter, try the Amelia Peabody series. Most of them are set in Egypt. Elizabeth Peters, the author - pen name for Barbara Mertz was an Egyptologist. She also wrote two non-fiction, academic books on Egypt.
