I never plan on it. I'll be going along in the story and suddenly I realize that I'm writing about an ex. And it will be about any ex, not simply the last one that I'm trying to process and get over.
Sometimes it makes me wobble as I write---I'll get self-conscious and worry that I'm OBVIOUSLY writing about the ex. Of course that's impossible. Unless he got ahold of the book and read it and then start screaming about suing me for slander.
Or I won't intend shaping the main character after me, and then I start recognizing the behavior and speech patterns and I groan.

Anyone else?
