Ancelin led Venom through the split board he considered the entryway. "This is my home!" He announced with pride. At the sound of his mew, a series of loud squeaks could be heard as mice fled and a cloud of birds rose to the rafters. "I hope you find it comfortable."
"Wow, this is nice!" She meowed playfully, she bounced sideways. She flung a plump slow mouse into the air and quickly finished off. "Want to share?" She asked, pushing it to Anclein. It was larger than most mice and look juicy. She licked off her paw. ((Sorry! I didn't see this post.))
"Sure, thanks!" Ancelin settled down next to Venom. Taking a small piece of flesh, he began to chew. "Eat as much as you like, they just keep coming!"
Venom laughed and took a few bites before she ran her tongue over her mouth. "It's warm too." She purred injoying the rare warmth.
"That it is. I don't know why the Twolegs ever left this, they haven't been back for many moons. But the mice have taken over, and so have I." He nodded before pouncing on a mouse attempting to sneak by them. "Here, have another." He shoved the mouse towards her.
Venom took a few bites before she meowed, "I'm full, I don't think I can eat another bite." She licked her jaws and stretched out. She pawed the mouse back to Ancelin playfully. She hounded deeper into the barm and shadows.
He devoured the mouse in a few gigantic bites before leaping to his paws. "Come here!" He stood at the base of an old rickety ladder. "The view from the top is amazing! And it's got some comfortable stuff on the floor to sleep on." Ancelin proclaimed with excitement.
Venom trotted over, her tail was waving high in the air. "Let's go!" She meowed and jumped up to the middle part of the ladder.
The ladder threatened to fall, the creaked. Her ears went back and she jumped back down. "You go first." She meowed.
((Here))Leaping up to the top, Ancelin arrived just as the ladder crashed to the ground. His fur fluffed up nervously. "That has never happened before! How odd." He was confused, and quite scared, but managed to remain calm for the sake of his visitor. "Now we have to find an alternative way to get down that doesn't involve breaking bones." He half joked, yet he was somewhat serious.
She had made it up before the ladder crashed too. "Yeah." She sighed, looking out the window it was getting dark. In her eyes, a shine of nervousness was deep in them. Her tail swished and stopped before it touched his flank. She turned and jumped to a rafter and walked around on it, searching for a way down. Her ears twitch to some creaking but the rafter board seemed sturdy enough for her. She stumbled slightly in the dark but remained on the board.
"Careful!" He called out as he leaped up to join her on the ceiling beam. Searching for any possible safe routes to the ground, he noticed a type of ramp leaning against the far wall. "What'd you suppose that's for?" He asked, gesturing to the contraption with his tail.
She narrowed her eyes, "I don't know, we should go see." She meowed and quickly made her way over to it.
As they approached the odd figure, Ancelin began to feel uneasy. "Everything in this place is so old, I don't know what's safe and what's not." He muttered.
"It's f-fine, I'll try first." She volenters, Venom moved to the ramp. She put her first to laws onto the board. Her fur bristled as it made a few odd noises. She put her back paws on to test it. After a moment she passed a few paces. It made a snapping noise.
"Venom, get off of there!" Ancelin rushed to the side of the ramp. As he did one of the floorboards gave way beneath him. Plummeting through the floor in a shower of dust, hay, and decaying wood, he was rolled over and over through the air. At last, after what seemed like an eternity, he hit the ground with a thump.
She had no time to react as the board gave a big whine. She ran to jump, which didn't help. It made her hit the floor sooner and harder. The cracked board feel onto her. She coughed as the dust cleared. "Anclein?" Her voice was quiet and pressed out. She tried to stand. This is bigger and heaver than it looks! she thought. She looked around and saw him on the ground. She coughed and tried to make herself smaller so she could breath better under the board.
Scrabbling to get to his feet, Ancelin heaved a fallen board off of him. "Venom! Are you alright?" He raced over to assess the situation. Looking at the ramp, it was then that it dawned on him. "That ramp isn't wood, it's the same material that the Twolegs use to make the Monsters. Hmmmm..." He thought hard as he worked to get her out from under the ramp. "Can you move at all?" He asked.
"Okay, when I push up against this thing, you move as fast as you can away from it, got it?" He got into position with his shoulder wedged under the loose end by her head.
She nodded, barely able to breath. She decided not to waste it on talking. She manged to get a law into a punching position and got ready to run.
Heaving upwards, Ancelin raised the metal up off of her a few inches. He hoped they would be enough for her to squeeze through. "Run!" He felt his paws slipping on the smooth wooden floor.
She sprang out running as fast as she could. She skidded to a stop, she quickly turned and ran back to Ancelin.
He let the heavy thing drop with a crash. "Well, we got down alright, just not in the way I'd hoped. You alright?" He asked concerned.
"No problem, glad to help. Looks like I'm gonna have to live in a new section of this place." He glanced at Venom. "I hope you're not mad at me for bringing you here." He eyed her.
She noticed and looked at her feet. "No. It was fun. We had a good time and are well fed." She meows. Her tail flicks a stone across the floor.
Nodding in response, Ancelin began to observe the other, less noticeable aspects of the barn. "I wonder if there are any other rooms in this place." He asked out loud, but directed more at Venom than anything else.
She skidded to a stop by a hole. "There a hole..." She meowed. Than sniffed around it, there was a scent she couldn't recognize on it. She sat down to wait for him, while sitting down she noticed how tired she was. She blinked slowly.
"Hmmm." He peered down into gaping blackness. "I wonder if we should risk it now or wait till morning. I'm tired." He let out a particularly loud yawn that ended in his clicking his teeth together.
"Yeah, we should get some rest. It's too dark for me to go back now."'she meows looking around for a place to rest.
He peered around in the fading light. Spotting a flattened hay bale, he trotted over. "We could sleep here." He suggested.
"Better than the floor." She nodded and made her way over. She jumped up onto it. The space was small, but enough for the two of them. Well this is going to be awkward... We're going to be... Touching! she thought. She curled up into a small ball and waited for Ancelin to join her.
Oh dear heavens above! I forgot about the fact I'd have to share! Glory be.> Ancelin scrunched himself to the farthest corner to give Venom the appropriate distance from him. Curling himself as small as he could, he fell asleep.
Venom couldn't sleep, her brilliant green eyes were the only thing visible. She made herself relax, than she fell to sleep. In the night she moved a lot. Unaware how close she got to Ancelin in the middle of the night.
In the night she had gotten cold and automatically came to Ancelins side. She shivered. She slowly opened her eyes hearing a mouse squeak. Than she noticed the distance between them was next to nothing. She jumped back.
Her movements awoke him from a deep slumber. "You alright?" He mumbled through his foggy eyes. He squinted in the early morning light. "How'd you sleep?"
"Yeah." Her eyes flickered to the hole. "I'm going in to see." Venom meowed and jumped down from the bale. She padded slowly over to it. She slipped in easily.
"Take it easy, we don't know what's down there." Ancelin watched nervously at the mouth of the hole. "Watch out for rats, their bites are nasty," he cautioned.
She looked around. "It seems clear now." She meowed back. She waited for him to join her, nervous now.
