Hi. I started this group because I couldn’t find any group that fit this subject matter. I searched but couldn’t find. If there is one please let me know. Any help or suggestions are welcomed.

C. | 12 comments Hi Monica, what a great idea for a group! As a baby-boomer, these are my favorite decades! I love reminiscing about those times.

I wish you the best for your group and I hope your bookshelf grows like a weed, lol!

Chris

Thanks and glad to have you here. I'm a generation X and to hope this group grows, so others can share books they have read that feature these decades.

Forgot to say. Please feel free to add any books to the book shelf that may be about the late 20th Century and add them as “read”. I know some books may overlap from the first half or the 20th century or part of the 21st century, but that is fine. I already added If You Remember Metal Skates by Nancy Williams and thanks again for the suggestion.

C. | 12 comments You are most welcome, and I will see what I come up with in books.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Hi I'm also a Baby Boomer! I'm from New Zealand.

Authors I love from this time period that don't already have their own groups (as far as I'm aware) include Elizabeth Goudge & Frances Parkinson Keyes.

Jon Abbott I too am a baby boomer and a group co-moderator (Action Heroine Fans: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...), from Western Massachusetts, in the States. I just went to a list of NYTimes best sellers by decade. http://www.hawes.com/no1_f_d.htm

I'm okay (recognized, read many of, and enjoyed) the books in each decade from the 50's to the 80's. The 90's were a disaster: Grisham (refuse to read), Clancy (although I read many), and King (not a horror fan.)

Peyton Place Peyton Place by Grace Metalious is one suggestion for a book written in the 50's that I think (I haven't read it) was set in 50's about a New England town.

The Shoes of the Fisherman The Shoes of the Fisherman by Morris L. West , which I have read (and enjoyed) is contemporary with its writing.

I will post these in the June suggestions box.

Welcome. And I still think I'm going to take your title of Typo Queen away. The only title I'm familiar with the authors you mentioned is The Little White Horse.

Welcome Jon. That Zia flag looks familiar. Thanks for the suggestions.

Jon Abbott It is a version of the New Mexico state flag; the zia symbol is from the Zia Pueblo. They are having a dispute with the state and others who use the zia about cultural misappropriation.

For me it represents 15 wonderful years I lived there.

Yes. I remember learning some of that in grade school. Also the colors are from the Spanish flag.
