Daphne (daphnesm) | 221 comments Can they be books we are currently reading as long as we finish them before the 1st?

message 5: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Sure can. They need to be books started after March 1 (the start of the challenge) and read between the 25th and 31st March

Kristie | 5936 comments What site does everyone use find their words? I typically use the "look inside" and "search" feature on Amazon, but it isn't available for all books.

I just tried it for a book I'm starting today and it wasn't available. Since, I will be listening to this one while driving, I can't write it down if I happen to hear it and I won't easily be able to go back and find it either.

message 7: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments There is also books.google.com
Other than that, I'm not sure if there's another option. Amazon and Google are my go-to sites for this kind of scavenger hunt.

Andrea (deja05) | 237 comments You mentioned that the books used for this challenge don't need to be separate from the ones used for UNO cards - but can they be separate? What I'm asking is, for those of us almost finished the challenge, can we use books that won't be claimed for a card? And if so, how do we determine which bonus points that book will get? Thanks!

message 9: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5936 comments Thanks, Eldarwen. :) I'll look into that one.

Yes you can use books not used for the regular uno cards. You will choose which card to double for points (though each uno card can only be doubled once) - it doesn't need to be for the books read for this mini-challenge.

message 11: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5936 comments UNO Pixie - Am I reading that right? You can double any card you choose? So, if your book fits in your challenge, you can still double a different card?

You have to look on Print book not Kindle book they changed it!

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) | 1572 comments if the word is orange, does it have to be the fruit or can it be the color?

You just need the word, not the meaning, so the color is fine :)

There was no look inside feature for the print book and no search for the kindle. It is available on google books though.

message 24: by Alexa (new)

Alexa Carver (alexacarver) Just making sure I'm doing this correctly... we can claim double points on wild or wild draw 4 cards, right? Or does it have to be just a normal 20 point card?

message 25: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Divya wrote: "Can lemonade or lemongrass be for the word lemon?"

No, it has to be the word or a plural is ok

I'm not extacly sure what you mean.

Just for the easter mini challenge? You can double up to 20 of your existing cards so it depends on the makeup of your hands as to what 20 cards you chose to double.
Maybe have a look at some of the other team spreadsheets to give you an idea?

message 46: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5936 comments I have a couple of questions for this challenge.

First, I have an audio book that has a word in it. I used the time where the word was, instead of the page, and wanted to make sure that was ok.

Second, one of my teammates found a word in her book, but ran into a bit of trouble with the location. Amazon doesn't have the look inside feature for her book and Google books provides the following quote, "pretty girlie sandwichs , seasonal fruit ,celery," but no page number. Her book was Happy Ever After. Is there some way to find out the page # or can we use it without the page? Anyone own the book??

Thank you!

message 47: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments That's ok for both Kristie. Just use the quote for the second book
