Reader's Choice Book Club--Frisco Public Library discussion

Have you all read any of Judy Blume's books before? I've read a few of her children's books when I was a kid and loved them. Looking forward to reading this one. :)

Yes I read a ton of them. But I was young so I don't remember much of their details. Looking forward to this one.

I'm having a hard time remembering all these characters as I read. Though at least the story is interesting, I'm finding it hard to get invested in people.

I started it tonight but already feel that there are quite a bit of characters. I'm hoping that they'll stick in my head once I get to reading more. Or I might write down a character cheat sheet list to remember them, haha!

So after my post, Miri said something to the effect of: Why can't rusty keep all these people straight?

Then I got really meta. Maybe we, the reader, are Rusty.

Yes, it's "In The Unlikely Event" by Judy Blume. I have a few copies if you'd like to check one out. :)

Haha! We are all Rusty. Or at least rusty at keeping track of everyone. *ba dum tsssh*

Well I actually read this book but I'm not going to make it tonight! I had my tonsils out with short notice and am recovering/combined with weather alerts, don't think it will be worth it for me to go out. Hope it's a good one.

Oh Courtney! I had my tonsils out as an adult and it's not fun. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

There was about 6 of us that made it. We had a good discussion about the book and air travel. You did miss out on some homemade Butter Pecan Cookies that I made and brought to the meeting. Hopefully the weather is better for next time. Hope you feel better soon.

It seemed that most people enjoyed it but also agreed about the confusion of the large cast of characters at the beginning. Did you like it?

It was OK. I did the audiobook and wasn't super bored but it wasn't riveting either.
