I really want there to be a sequel exploring Maddy, her life after realising her diagnosis was wrong, and how she adapts to it. I also want more of her and Olly, and more importantly more focus on her and her mum, and her mums very obvious mental health issues. Does anyone agree with me?

yesssssssssssssssssss......I mean the book is AMAZING everything about it, its sooooooooooo good i really can't put my feelings for this book into words so i'll just say AWESOME BOOK I WANNA SEQUEL
how her mom did that to her its really just crazy sick. But i understand why she did it i'm not saying it was right but i understand she didn't want to lose her daughter and i would hate her too keeping her child back like that i mean never going to school never having a real friend never having a sleepover its sad tho i'm really happy she found out that she never had it and she met Olly!!!!!!
Exactly! This is why I want a sequel so badly; there's so much left to explore. So much more that Maddy needs to learn, learn about herself and adjust to.
SO MUCH i mean theirs so much more to explore when Everything Everthings new to her (See what i did there lol) like how shes gonna make friends OH MAN I WANT A SEQUEL BAD!!!!!!
Definitely! My heart was in my throat though because I thought she was going to get ill but it was so nice of her and just shows the power of friendship/love ❤️
I am not sure if there should be a sequel. I mean, this was a good book but just doesn't seem sequel worthy. I think it would just be too corny, but would just mostly about Olly and Maddy moving forwards and Maddy trying to recover her relationship with her mother.
I agree with you to some extent and I would worry about it turning it to a rom-com of a book. Equally though, based on the first book, I don't think Ms Yoon would do that... I might be wrong and that would be a shame. But I would really love a sequel yes, I'd love it to contain some Maddy and Olly (I am a sucker for romance) but mostly I want a book about the change in diagnosis, the effect and yes, the relationship between Maddy and her mother.
I just have to say, I enjoyed this book a lot, it's probably my favourite contemporary, but I really don't think there should be a sequel. Yes, I love the characters and want to see more of them, but at the same time, the first book is an amazing stand-alone, and if she did right a sequel, I'm scared it wouldn't be as good, and that would the book series for me. So, no I don't think there should be a sequel, I'm probably the only person that thinks this, but that's just how I feel. (I mean obviously I would read it if she wrote a sequel, but I don't really want her to write second one)
I agree with you Olivia, but if there was going to be a sequel I think it should be on different characters and a different problem.
No. It's enough already, whatever happens to her life after the book is pretty obvious. She will live a normal life like everybody else with the help of Olly. And nothing will be interesting anymore. Let's just leave the book the way it ended. :)
No I feel like it needs a sequel. I need closure with her mother. There are so many things that can be explored: Olly's family, their relationship, her lack of life experience, her mothers mental health, her new health challenges, Carla and her daughter. So so much. I want more.
Honestly?
for once I dont need a sequel, if she writes one cool, if not dont mind.
maybe a novella. Or a companion book.
I just feel the story is great ending there.

A sequel is not much needed. We all know what wil happen, and it's better that the readers are left with something to think about. Makes it even more unforgettable.
Yes more Olly/Maddy. No on the mom. Yes, her exploring new things, I think that would make for a beautiful book.
I'd love for there to be a sequel. I feel like the book opens the door to one since it ends with her finding Olly. There could be a book about their adventures together now, and even what the mom is going through with her gone.
Rachel, I completely agree! There needs to be an expansion on her life now, relationships with peers, with Olly, with her mum. Does her mum get treatment? How does he react? There is so much more to be explored and answered without it becoming a soppy (or just a soppy) book.
Rachael wrote: "I really want there to be a sequel exploring Maddy, her life after realising her diagnosis was wrong, and how she adapts to it. It just showed that mothers aren't perfect, but they try their best to make your life better (like in Maddy's case). I mean, the reality of life is ugly, but at least, somehow, that's what made it precious
I don't think i would read the sequel. Of course I would like to know how Madeline gets to explore the world. BUT, I'm just so happy with how the book ended, and I'm scared the sequel would mess that up.
I think there should be a sequel because I really want to find out what happens to the two of them as they grow up and how Olly treats Madeline now that he knows she is not sick. I also really like the end of the book, though. Overall really good book!!!
Well, maybe when the movie comes out other people will ask for a sequel. I for sure want a sequel!

Totally true. There definitely should be a sequel. It was a great read. Can't wait for the movie. The trailer looks awesome!!!
The book s idea was unique and the twist at the end was great..i think that the sequel only is going to ruin the story ..it better to leave it that way..
I really think the author should make a sequel. I want to know what Maddy's life is like after her discovering she's not really sick. Will Maddy be able to repair her relationship with her mom? Is Olly and Maddy's relationship going to last? Will Maddy ever be able to go to school? I'm also really excited for the movie, but I pictured Maddy and Olly looking different.
Yeah. I know what you mean. But, at the same time, would a sequel live up to the original? That's the thing. Either way, I am looking forward to the movie.
Omg i think there should definitely be a sequel. We want to know if Olly and maddie fall in love again and stay together. Have a life together. This is the best book ive read in a long time. Please make a sequel.
There 100% should be a sequel. This book had me smiling ear to ear and feeling so much love and happiness grow in my heart. It was a beautifully written story written in a refreshing way.
There should totally be a sequel about how maddy lives her life without being sick. Also what happens with her and olly and her mom.
I totally agree with the sequel idea. Sure, she'll carry on with her life as "normal" people do, but there's still so much you can explore in that topic. Like how she adjusts to the major changes, the adventures her and Olly take in New York, the opportunities she now has because of her freedom, what really happened back home when Olly, his mom, and sister left their dad, and most importantly her and Olly's happily ever after or at least something like it.
I don't think that there will be a sequel, but you never know. If the author does decide to make a sequel I would obviously read it.
I first thought that the book wouldn't be sequel-worthy. It just seemed like a book, that should finish there. But I thought more about it, and now I do think it could be interesting if she made a sequel. Maybe not as a love story, but just Maddie exploring the world, and enjoying the little things in life.
I think it would be interesting if we could see the effects of living her life in a bubble. We saw this in Hawaii when she got sick but it wouldn't just be a one time situation. Maddy would have a seriously weak immune system. If she were to do a sequel, which honestly isn't necessary, I feel like this would need to be a focus as well as her relationship with her mom. If the book focused on her relationship with Olly it could end up ruining a lot about what we love about their relationship from the first book. There needs to be some conflict other than the romance.
The book was absolutely amazing, no doubt about it. I believe the story ended perfectly, and I don't think that a sequel is necessary. In some aspects it would be nice to know where everything goes from the end. Instead of a sequel, I would love if the author wrote more stories that were different but at the same time this amazing! Two books from her just isn't enough!
As much as I would love a sequel, and definitely read one if it came out, I really like how the book was finished. It gives the reader the opportunity to come to their own conclusion about Maddy's life. I imagine her going into work for an NGO working to improve healthcare in impoverished countries. I don't know why that's just what comes to my mind.

THIS WON'T END HERE !! this book gave me a headacke !!
Jonalyn wrote: "No. It's enough already, whatever happens to her life after the book is pretty obvious. She will live a normal life like everybody else with the help of Olly. However more books from Nicola is always welcome :3
I'm really iffy when it comes to the idea of sequels. Not every book can stand up to the book before it. Not saying that Yoon can't do it, I'd just be worried that because the book is so beloved, people would hate the sequel because it isn't the first. There is a WHOLE LOT of subject matter that can be explored in a sequel, but what I don't know is what the major plot issue would be. Take for example the first book, how the first problem was dealing with the struggle between love and illness. Now that she has her love back and her illness was never real, what's the new big problem? What can be explored further? Where would she take it from where she left it?
