The Hunger Games was really ruined since I saw almost all of the movies before I started reading the books, a big mistake on my part.

The scorch trials book had a different point and the whole movie was different than the book. Same with 'Allegiant' AllegiantThe Scorch Trials
for me, it was "Under the Dome". I bought the book long time ago, but till this very day, i couldn't read it. i feel like the TV show repelled me from the whole story.

the book. definitely the book.
I never watch a move before a book, thankfully. It is only after the latter fact that I usually find there is a movie as well. ;P When I saw the notification I thought one's asking about what do you feel like when you loan a book and it returns damaged. Thus the above question. (Lol I'm such a weirdo sometimes)

But when I find out there's a movie coming out, I read the book first, just to see if it's worth watching XD
Not exactly ruined....but I don't like the see the movie first in general, as the book can be harder to get into if I know the story. However, I love seeing a movie after reading a book.

Anyways, it takes a lot to "ruin" a book for me. I've a couple (but not movies) in the vain "so good it ruins the book in comparison," though:
The musical version of Wicked is so much better than the book, it's not even funny. The book technically has better ideas, but it executes them so poorly... It's really hard to read the book now without comparing it to the show. So, so underwhelming.
Season 2 of Game of Thrones is ridiculously better than Clash of Kings. Whenever I try to return to the book, I always have to put it down because the show made so many good changes that it distracts me.
Hello everyone.i'm Shuha from Srilanka. An undergraduate student. I'm 22

I still love the books and the last book is still a masterpiece but the movies the fandoms the merchandise. Sigh... It took away the brilliance of how the books were written.
the delirium series and that too only a pilot was released. however, the equals seems to be similar to those books also
When I first read any book I'm focused on the storyline. If I reread it, I can better absorb the symbolism and the spectrum of metaphors and things. Watching the movie first helps with this because I know the storyline, but then I'm all distracted making comparisons
Hey everyone ...i recently joined this group.I have watched the movies after finishing the novel and im thankful for that cuz movies jus ruin ur imagination... like hunger games : peeta (in my imagination peeta was definitely good looking ), divergent : they ruined the ending (but Tobias matched my imagination)...
Well i suggest to watch the movie after u read the novel ....or however u deem it

trainspotting...nightmare!Oh god what a book and what an awful movie. When I was reading the book was really getting the vibes from characters and how drugs can play with your mind. On the other hand the movie made me kind of angry. Was made "soft" so it can be easy to watch but also pointless with no meaning. Hope I could unsee it!
I actually watched Insurgent before finishing the book and I didn't change my opinion of either medium. I preferred the movie a bit more because I'm not a huge fan of Roth's writing. Having said that, I'm not reading Allegiant but will probably watch the movie when it comes out.

I read the book which WAS better than the show but I was disappointed in the ending. I only watched the first part of the show and couldn't get any further. It wasn't good at all in my opinion. Not saying anything more.
Alex wrote: "Has a movie or TV show ever ruin a book for you or a friend before? I've never had a movie or TV show ruin a book but I was wondering if anyone has had that done before."I don't really understand the question. "Ruined the book" as in the book was worse? Or as in the book was better, but I now know the story so I can't really appreciate it?.
