I did like the book okay, but not my favorite classic sci-fi by any means. I feel like Jules Verne wanted to show off some of his Geology knowledge and build a story around it. Instead of an adventure, it reads like a lecture at many points. But, despite the focus on fact, that all goes out the window once the interior of the earth becomes a prehistoric nightmare. He attempts to connect it somewhat to science, but at that point the connection to any real possibility that the interior of the earth would be like this is shaky at best.
Also, the survival abilities of the characters is like an action movie character who survives several explosions, car wrecks, fist fights, etc. and walks away like it is nothing. These characters should be dead so many times!
