Cinder is a book that takes place in the future after the colonization of the moon. Technology has advanced enough that prosthetic pieces are highly advanced. Cinder it the recipient of several cyborg pieces, and as such is considered an outcast by her step mother and sisters.
This is the first in a series that is based loosely on the premise of several fairy tales. The first being Cinderella, and the others taking on Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and Rapunzel.
The book is good, but it is a book in a series, and thus ends like one. It is not meant to be read as a stand alone. It is also aimed at a teenage audience, so it has the themes you would expect in such a novel.
The overall plot is good, and the science is plausible. Hence, why I am using it as a Science Fiction instead of Book based on fairy tale. (Though, I had originally planned that when I purchased it).
I do not recommend reading this unless you are willing to read the others, or be content with a hanging chad. (You could look up the plots on Google and find out how the series ends if you wish).
But, if you want a Science Fiction series that could fill several of the prompts, this might be a choice for you. (It is a popular YA series, the last came out this February, and based on a Fairy Tale...and, if you are doing the Ultimate Challenge, there is a Prequel)
