Newbook: Anton Svensson put a new book out published in the USA on April 5, 2016 called The Father: Made in Sweden, Part I. This is a pseudonym for Stefan Thunberg and Anders Roslund. 592 pages of 2 brothers who robbed 10 banks in Sweden, based on real facts.
We have a book by Helena Halme which will be published in the USA on April 15, 2016 called "The Finnish Girl", it is a short story (77 pages). Sounds like a romance and not a mystery. It's on Amazon not on Goodreads yet.
Just received "The Ice Child" from the library and could not stop reading last night. Half-way through now. Love Fallbacka and the area and the familiar characters are like visiting friends. Although I feel Lackberg is not the most accomplished writer, her crimes are well planned and the detection good. But for me the books are all about this small part of Sweden and its community. Just read a Lisa Gardner, who for me is "typical USA crime", which from time to time is my guilty secret, but when you compare it with the Scandi crime, just doesn't give you the same details. Otherwise, Lackberg and Gardner are similar, as they both by now write formulaic as they both clearly know what their readers like and what sells their books. But, I don't care, I can't wait to see what happens next in the book and undoubtedly I'll be reading both writers next books asap. Total escape and relaxation (although I feel slightly guilty writing this considering the horrendous crime of this book)!
