Melaslithos | 1645 comments April is pointing its nose, let's hope that spring will definitely reach its wings all over the world!

What are your reading plans for this month?

For me, I am planning on reading the following books:

Season of Migration to the North by Tayeb Salih Death Fugue by Sheng Keyi The Spider's House A Novel by Paul Bowles Life of Pi by Yann Martel Budapest by Chico Buarque

So I'm once again returning to a more ambitious list, let's see if I can manage to read all this in April!

Sorobai | 365 comments I find it wonderful how you plan your reading so neatly. I usually pick the first book on the pile and then other and other and other... Well, I loved Life of Pi, hope you like it too!

Melaslithos | 1645 comments Well, I'm part of several reading group, so if I want to be able to follow all of them, I need to organise my reading.

Also, I tend to travel a lot, and have to think about what books to pack each time, so here again, I need to be organised if I don't want to have a too heavy bag nor lack of books (although my e-reader is helping a lot for that).

But as you will notice, the list at the end of the month can sometimes be quite different to what I planned at the beginning of the month. I like to just pick the book I feel like reading from my shelves too ^^

Karen M I'm reading two that I started in March, Something Wicked and a re-read of Emma. I promised myself that this would be a year of re-reads. I may actually get started on The Hobbit but it's only the beginning of the month and I don't really know what I'll be in the mood to read next.

message 6: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I have to reread The Nanny Diaries for one group and Shadowland for another. For myself I plan on finishing The Stand: Captain Trips series and then the Omnibus. I'll finish The Ice Queen which I began in March and am not sure what else I will fit in.

Kandice Gavin, you may already know this, but one of my favorite things about The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol. 1 books is that every single character name mentioned is taken from Victorian Fiction. Even the very minor characters. My brother and I used to try to find them all. We had notebooks full of our ideas.

Hi, Melas!
Thank you so much for setting up the thread.

Well, I have no idea what I will read next or for the rest of the month. I am on a major book hangover.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children #1) was my first book of the month and easily made it into my top favourite books. I am just amazed at so many things in the story that I need to stop and mull through them.

Yes, trying to get all the references is great, though some of them are too obscure for me. Wikipedia saves me in those cases xD

So at the moment I am reading The House of Shattered Wings by Aliette de Bodard The House of Shattered Wings.

At some point I plan to read The Ice Twins by S.K. Tremayne The Ice Twins by S.K. Tremayne and hopefully A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.

I can tell my current one will take a while to finish, so not sure whether I will be able to squeeze them all in this month.

So far I have managed to keep up! I have read 2 out of three and have just started The Ice Twins.

After that, I plan to read Fellside by M.R. Carey Fellside, I was lucky enough to grab it from Netgalley!

Hope I enjoy it as much as TGWATG, those are tough shoes to fill.

message 13: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I'm reading The Lies of Locke Lamora (not on my list) and am loving it! So glad I picked it up. I haven't much time to actually read lately so am thrilled to read something I am genuinely enjoying.

Melaslithos | 1645 comments This month didn't really go according to plan. It took me ages to read Death Fugue, which is quite an interesting book, but a rather dense one.

So here is my tally for this month:
Death Fugue by Sheng Keyi Budapest by Chico Buarque Persuasion by Jane Austen
