Fanny Mills | 6 comments I admit to having mixed feelings about this, since Sanditon was never finished by Jane, but I would love to see how the movie addresses the story. Have spent way too much time lamenting the fact that Jane never finished this novel. I really think Sanditon would have been another Austen masterpiece.

QNPoohBear | 739 comments I'm not sure how I feel either. There are at least 2 completed versions they can choose from or write their own ending. It's hard to tell where the story was going but I think finished and polished, it would have contained some biting wit, memorable kooky characters and hopefully a romance for the ages.

Deborah, your list of Sanditon-connected books gives us an interesting list to dive into. Thank you for linking. I am tempted immediately by the Reginald Hill. I agree too, Hadley, that Austen's Sanditon would have lived up to its promise. I am glad to see the movie in the works.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ I know many years ago I read a version of Sanditon with a really bad completion - you could tell where JA had stopped writing.

But ... Charlotte Rampling! This could be really good!

Deborah Yaffe (dyaffe) | 4 comments Reginald Hill's book is very good, though I think you probably get more out of it if you've read the earlier installments in the series. Just avoid Julia Barrett's Charlotte if you love the English language. Life is way, way too short.
