I think there should be a thread for people to make suggestions for what should be on the poll. Maybe take the first 10 recommendations (one recommendation per person) and add those to the poll. That way other people would be willing to be involved without having a random book. Maybe you could set a specific genre of books for people to choose on a thread for example, young adult or historical fiction...

message 6: by Katherine (new)

Katherine That's what I plan on doing. I just want all the mods to agree.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that's a great idea! You guys can go along with that, and create the thread. Also, would someone mind creating a group challenge? I have not much time and will right now to do so and there are some great ideas in the drafts thread.

Awesome! Should I share my ideas for the challenge here, or just execute them?

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

You can just execute them, that would be completely fine!!

message 12: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I'll put my plans into action as soon as I have the time.

Awesome! I will just finish something up, then start the challenge.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Of course :) You guys don't have to rush you can take as long as you need! I appreciate that you are contributing so much!!

message 15: by Katherine (new)

Katherine How would you guys feel about having a challenge that's...bigger. Most challenges are a month or so, but what if we had a seasonal challenge. Like a summer challenge that is 3 months long...
Is it a bad idea or do you think people would like it?

I'm not sure, it is a good idea, but I know a lot of people can't handle even a one month challenge and participate the whole time. Maybe you should post a poll to see how capable people are for being in the challenge and also how willing people would be to participate in the challenge.

message 17: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Alright, I'll put out a poll

I had an idea that I have in my own group right now-- I have a book cover design contest, and maybe some challenge could be opened in this group. If we wanted to do that, there could just be a thread opened in this group and everyone could be in the contest together.

message 19: by Katherine (new)

Katherine What if we kept the monthly challenges but if enough people want it we will have an entire summer one?

message 20: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
I think if we had the summer long one, we shouldn't have a monthly challenge so everyone can focus.

If we wanted to do the long one, I have an idea.

We could create challenges for each month, just to mix it up, but they would all be mushed in with the summer long challenge. I am saying that because people may get bored with the same challenge for almost three months. Then people would really need to think about how much they read. Instead of people deciding how much they can read in one month, it should be how much they can read over the span of the challenge.

I don't really know what I am trying to get to, but that's what I was thinking about...

What we should do if we have a three month challenge is divide the mods to plan out one month (two mods or something per each month), then consult with each other. The mods who want to participate can all be on one team. These things would be pretty cool, but of course everyone would need to be willing to do something like that...

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure, that seems fun! It would also get everyone encouraged to participate!!

@Idil-- Sidenote: I just read your bio, and I am DYING! That is the story of my life :)

message 24: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
I'll send an email to the mods and see who is interested (even though they would most likely read this thread at some point)

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep of course! And also, yes, I include my life philosophies in my bio so haha I guess my life is just hilarious XD

message 26: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I personally don't think we should divide the work. what do you think. I would love to do the read a thon stuff on my own because then it's SO MUCH more organized.

message 27: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I mean, monthly challenges divide up the work MAYBE. But read a thon really needs to stick to 1 or 2 people.

message 28: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
If we did the three month challenge, everything would need to be divided, since it is a lot for one person to do, and I am sure other people would want to some things.

message 29: by Katherine (new)

Katherine the read a thon is not much work to do.

message 30: by Madelyn (new)

Katherine wrote: "the read a thon is not much work to do."

Yeah, you should do the read a thon. That wouldn't be that bad.

message 31: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
Plus, you have some planning/experience with that stuff...

message 32: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I would seek help from mods to host sprints

message 33: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
Yeah, what I am talking about is the three month summer challenge, and we should get input and help from other mods...

message 34: by Katherine (new)

Katherine yeah, I know.

message 35: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Just saying; The poll is showing that most people don't care and others want 1 three month challenge.

message 36: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
I saw it a little while ago, yeah. I voted for three month since it may be easier in the long run...

message 37: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
I know one thing that would need to be considered is how many people would be able to participate for three months because of camps, vacations, and other commitments.

message 38: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
We have time though...

message 39: by Katherine (new)

Katherine That's why it's 3 months... so there's tons of time for breaks

message 40: by Madelyn (new)

Madelyn Rose | 399 comments Mod
I know. Plus, people can just take breaks when they need to because everyone will have things going on at some point...
