Please make your nominations. There are some suggestions on the 20th century book shelf. Thanks.

Update:

I was thinking of June's theme being a book that takes place in another country besides the US. But any nomination would be great. I would also like to see how readily available the books is. Some people may not have e-readers or afford new books and depend on their local library, Interlibrary loan or used books. We also can choose more than one book.

I was thinking about Cancer Ward by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

"Cancer Ward tells the story of a small group of patients in Ward 13, the cancer ward of a hospital in Soviet Central Asia in 1955,..."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cancer_...

So it takes place in the 2nd half of the 20th Century.

Cancer Ward by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Jon Abbott Ambitious choice, if you go with it, but also a good one. June is a ways away, so perhaps you will get more nominations. I don't have one yet.

Hopefully you will come up with one. I was thinking of June’s theme be a book that was set in another country besides the US. Granted next month’s book is set in Canada, but I thought of May’s theme being a book that has a title of a song. I know I haven’t been that clear, but I’m still learning how to be a moderator.

Jon Abbott Ok, this book looks fascinating but a bit pricey on Kindle:
The Separation The Separation by Dinah Jefferies .

An Amazon reviewer wrote:
When Lydia Cartwright returns to the family home in Malaya after a brief absence, she is startled when her arrival is met, not with an exuberant welcome from her daughters, Emma and Fleur, but by an ominous silence which permeates throughout the dusty remnants of the house on stilts. What then follows is the story of a painful separation, the consequences of which lead Lydia into the very heart of the Malayan jungle and into a desperate search for her beloved daughters. The story uses the exotic background of Malaya in the 1950s when the country was at war with itself and when every step into the unknown was fraught with danger.
