Ashley | 56 comments I will admit I wasn't ever one to read a lot of Fantasy but the older I've gotten the more I have branched out and found some really great fantasy fiction books that I absolutely love. I'd be interested to see what other members favorite fantasy fiction books are and/or who their favorite fantasy authors are!
My favorite contemporary fantasy series I've read has to be the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.

I'm not that into fantasy myself but have to admit that some of them are pretty good. I'm going to re-read Eragon, Eldest & Brisingr, the Inheritance Cycle.

I'm curious about the All Souls Trilogy :)

Ashley | 56 comments I just by chance picked up A Discovery of Witches when I was browsing in the library and I fell in love. The beginning of a Discovery of Witches was a little slow going but once I got into it my imagination just ran away with the characters and the settings. The second book in the series takes you back to Elizabethan England and then the 3rd and final book gives you the final show down. I highly recommend checking it out :)

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments Fantasy is something I'm not into at all, nor horror or sci fi. I know so many people love Harry Potter but I don't see what all the fuss is about. I tried the first book but gave it up halfway through

Ashley | 56 comments I wasn't really into fantasy, I just sort of stumbled across it and found myself really enjoying it. I read the first couple Harry Potter books- they were quick reads and I enjoyed them but they are definitely targeted for a younger audience.

Well, I sure enjoyed reading A Discovery of Witches reviews and I can tell a lot of people hated it.

Harry Potter is superb, one of the best fantasy I've ever read.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 12 comments I loved A Discovery of Witches but had trouble getting into the second book. Never finished it.
I loved loved Harry Potter and am constantly re-reading them. They are like a modern classic to me.
I also enjoyed The Chronicles of Narnia.
and I didn't think I liked Fantasy until I came on here.
Has anyone read the Nicholas Flammel books? I thought they were terrific. I guess what turns me away from Fantasy is when I get lists of sale books I always see these books about weird worlds with oddball names that I can't begin to pronounce.
Oh I forgot ... of course I loved the Wizard of Oz books.
More recently I read and liked The Mermaid's Sister

Now based on what I've said I liked if anyone has an recommendations of Fantasy for me let me know.

Cheryl Russell | 83 comments I think the good thing is we all like different genres and what one person likes another doesn't. Groups like this can open us up to new genres as well as new authors in genres we usually read.

Karen : I loved the second book in that series but I'm kind of a history nerd so the fantasy mixed with historical fiction was right up my alley. I know that this series isn't for everyone and it was really different for me but I loved the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin. It really blindsided me that I would enjoy something that much because it was completely out of my comfort zone.

Ashley | 56 comments Also I love the Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare times a billion!

Between Two Thorns, by Emma Newman is really good. Regency and Victorian England blend into a scintillating fusion of urban fantasy and court intrigue.
