I liked it, but I'm not sure about the characters. Besides the boy that falls in love, everyone comes and goes so fast! Of course I loved him. He's cute and naive. The perfect lovable Prince. It was the real surprise. The Star cries too much, in my opinion. I'm not sure if it was because of the movie. But the Pirate Captain was my favorite and the whitch Queen was horrible. I hated that the unicorn died!
I loved the book to bits!Yvaine and Tristan were the best of the all characters in the book.Neil Gaiman really is a master storyteller who possesses the rare talent of entralling his audience by his exquisite plots! My favorite quote however was:“Every lover is, in his heart, a madman, and, in his head, a minstrel.”
I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end - there was never a dull moment! It took me away into this enchanting world and now I want to visit Faerie myself. I loved how all the characters were woven in together, colliding at some point because of their own little quests. The twist that the star was actually in human form was also an interesting surprise. I'm really glad Tristran didn't end up with Victoria - she was a bitch. Overall I give this 4 out of 5 stars.
I do love a good adventure and this is a good adventure. I liked the book but I could have used a more celebration or a "feel good ending" but that is just me. I am glad he didn't end up with Victoria they were definitely not right for each other. I like the characters in the book and luckily for Tristen they were willing to help him he is sort of a clueless hero. But overall not a bad book.
After watching the movie, I decided to read the book and was quite pleased with it. Overall, it is a good book that takes you on an adventure into a fantasy world, while watching a young boy develop into a man. Tristan is definitely my favorite and Victoria my least. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 rating.
Ahh, Lord, I get flustered just having to speak about Neil Gaiman, haha.He is such a phenomenal writer and I simply (perhaps due to my rose tinted glasses) cannot see a simple flaw in any of his books.
Stardust was such a quick book and although I see what people mean about it feeling rushed regarding characters, I think that was done on purpose. The adventure was clear and I think the whole point was to focus on the eagerness of the main characters racing to find the star.
I felt and continue to feel deeply connected to this book, as well as a few other books of his. I can't particularly pin point the winning mark in this book for me, I just seem to get caught up in the speed of the book and the story telling.
