I really enjoy Robison's Wells' books. Variant was great. And Blackout and Dead Zone were a fun, fresh twist on the superhero genre. His new one, Dark Energy, was just released. I'm looking forward to reading it.
Here are some of the books Luke mentioned by Orson Scott Card:
Ender's Game
Ender in Exile
Speaker for the Dead
Xenocide
Children of the MindAnd from Stephanie, by Robison Wells:
Variant
Blackout

Shadows of Empyriad by Josi RussellAliens are coming to Yellowstone Global Park.
In order to protect its delicate ecosystem, the park has been closed to the public for a quarter of a century. But the fortifications that keep the public away from the bison and the geysers are perfect for keeping the arriving aliens—the Stracahn–away from humanity.
Solomon Brooks lives on the edge of the park, but he has never been inside. Outside the park’s energy barriers, bitter land wars threaten to tear human society apart. Sol seeks refuge from the conflict by volunteering to work with the aliens inside Yellowstone. There, he meets Zyn’dri, a Stracahn girl with gifts even her own species doesn’t fully understand, and Walt, a ranger whose knowledge of the park is second only to his knowledge of human nature.
As the three forge an unlikely friendship, they uncover a sinister plot and realize that some humans will go to any lengths to get the aliens out. The Stracahn have come from their dying planet, Empyriad, in search of a peaceful new home. But with warring humans outside the gates of Yellowstone and the world’s largest supervolcano inside, Earth is anything but peaceful.
So, wondering if Brandon Sanderson has any SciFi? The answer is YES. It's a bit border-line, but it works. Two novellas about Stephen Leeds extraordinaire!!"Stephen Leeds, AKA 'Legion,' is a man whose unique mental condition allows him to generate a multitude of personae: hallucinatory entities with a wide variety of personal characteristics and a vast array of highly specialized skills. As the story begins, Leeds and his 'aspects' are drawn into the search for the missing Balubal Razon, inventor of a camera whose astonishing properties could alter our understanding of human history and change the very structure of society".
After The Maze Runner, James Dashner wrote The Mortality Doctrine, which is YA, and somehow I lost track and haven't read the last and final book, which came out last year.... Dang, too many books, too little time. A bit of Matrix and hard-core gaming:An all-new, edge-of-your seat adventure from James Dashner, the author of the New York Times bestselling Maze Runner series, The Eye of Minds is the first book in The Mortality Doctrine, a series set in a world of hyperadvanced technology, cyberterrorists, and gaming beyond your wildest dreams . . . and your worst nightmares.
Michael is a gamer. And like most gamers, he almost spends more time on the VirtNet than in the actual world. The VirtNet offers total mind and body immersion, and it’s addictive. Thanks to technology, anyone with enough money can experience fantasy worlds, risk their life without the chance of death, or just hang around with Virt-friends. And the more hacking skills you have, the more fun. Why bother following the rules when most of them are dumb, anyway?
But some rules were made for a reason. Some technology is too dangerous to fool with. And recent reports claim that one gamer is going beyond what any gamer has done before: he’s holding players hostage inside the VirtNet. The effects are horrific—the hostages have all been declared brain-dead. Yet the gamer’s motives are a mystery.
The government knows that to catch a hacker, you need a hacker.
And they’ve been watching Michael. They want him on their team.
But the risk is enormous. If he accepts their challenge, Michael will need to go off the VirtNet grid. There are back alleys and corners in the system human eyes have never seen and predators he can’t even fathom—and there’s the possibility that the line between game and reality will be blurred forever.

The Glory of the Stars by Angie LofthouseOn the vast generation ship, the Kingdom of Heaven, President Jeremiah Black’s word is law. It is doctrine. It is the voice of God.
Four hundred years ago, the First Families boarded the Kingdom of Heaven to leave behind a wicked Earth and find a new home where they could build Zion—on a planet they named Canaan, a place the ship wouldn’t reach for a thousand years. Only their descendants would see this new world. But after so many years, conditions on the Kingdom of Heaven are much different from what those First Families had planned.
When Nephi Packard of telestial deck runs afoul of President Black and his High Council, he learns the hard way why leftovers like him don’t mingle with the celestials. While recovering from his harsh punishment for violating the rules with Black’s own granddaughter, an archangel appears to Nephi, and a calling to restore the true gospel to the Kingdom of Heaven turns Nephi’s life upside down. Now, armed with the word of God, Nephi and his friends from telestial deck must bring light, truth, and freedom to the citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven without getting cast out of the ship into outer darkness for heresy by President Black and his celestials.

The year is 2175, and interplanetary freighter captain, Edgar Kent Cordell, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder he didn’t commit. He was framed by his best friend and business partner, Edmund Reagan, his ex-wife, Llyrica, and Edgar’s cargomaster, Georgie “Goner” Cornwall.

Skydwellers is a science fiction adventure novel that I tried to make really unique. The surface world is based off of 19th-century midwestern America, and there are goblins.
The plot revolves around a technologically advanced society who lives in flying cities and who has managed to basically turn their own brains into smartphones. But there's a political conspiracy brewing, and to stop those who would seize power, the heroes will discover some surprising secrets about the ancient history of their world and how the skydwellers came to be.
I'm also working on the sequel right now!
My latest novel just came out! It's a super fun read about mathematics, robots, goblins, and hippies. Trust me, it works somehow. :)

Professional narrator Benjamin Fife does a masterful job reading the story of a girl who finds an ancient giant robot, a boy who becomes embroiled in a plot for world domination, and the man trying to use them both as puppets in his grand schemes. Although they were born with bodies and minds that don't quite work right sometimes, can Nimbus and Jacob use their newfound robot friends, psionic powers, and a cast of quirky allies to flip the script and keep humanity safe and free?
On Borrowed Wings is a tale of hope, positivity, growing up, and breaking the barriers our own challenges sometimes seem to impose on us. Plus, it's a clean read the whole family can enjoy!
