My favourite adventure story (or series) is the Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase series by Andy Mcdermott. Favourite book of the series is the Secret of Excalibur. That is probably until I read Samuel's new book.
Wilbur Smith's Africa Series, based on the diaries, notebooks and papers he found in a chest left over by his grandfather (or great-grandfather, I don't remember correctly), are incredible tales of adventure based on real events fictionalized.
Leonard, I found your response quite interesting. Wilbur Smith is a South African and as a fellow South African I never really got into his series novels. Much more preferred his standalone novels, such as Eagle in the Sky and Shout at the Devil. Cheers
Definitely struggling to pick up only one. But I'll vote for INCA GOLD by Clive Cussler. Nina and Eddy's adventures are great, and I love James Rollins' Sigma series as well. See, can's pick only one :)
Hi Jacques,Guess when you know those stories (and perhaps how they fail to tell the real story, which happens), you might be less inclined to take them at face value. Or, as the saying goes in Ecuador, "Nobody is a prophet in his/her own land." :-)
I can't really pick a single book or series as my favorite. Of the classic novels, Treasure Island stands out, though.
Only too true, Leonard. You are so right. As a general rule of thumb, I don't particularly care for books (series) that cover generations and I've never really cared for novels set in the past (more than 50 years ago). However Mr Wilbur Smith had always been my father's favourite author.

Jacques wrote: "Sorry, I meant Leonardo.... Damn autocorrect :)"You were legally correct, Jacques, no worries. During some paperwork unification procedures they took away the "o" from Leonardo after 40 odd years of having it and now I'm legally without the last "o." I had to make a notarized paper to say that Leonard Wild and Leonardo Wild are in fact the same person. Figure that one out!

Any thoughts?
