We talk about this a lot on romance, but what does it mean to you as a reader? Does there need to be an epilogue with the MCs many years down the line? Do they just need to be together at the end?

What are your thoughts?

KellyJo (kellyjo02) That depends on the story for me. Most of the time I am satisfied with HFN, but every once in a while I just feel so connected to a pair of MC that I want more.

When you say you are satisfied with an HFN, what do you mean? That they are together at the end, but the future is unknown? That they resolved the conflict of the plot and they are happily living their lives?

I am trying to gauge what people think an HFN is. What ending is the line between HFN and HEA?

Oh and I am only talking about romance stories here. Many of our Lit books do not have either because there is no romance to speak of.

KellyJo (kellyjo02) For me HFN leave the future of the couple open for interpretation. They have come together as a couple and resolved whatever current conflict that was established in plot.
