Have you read any of the Xanth books, by Terry Brooks?

I cannot think of anything to compare with Discworld. I am making my way through them still.

Have you tried his Long Earth books? I read the trilogy and have the fourth book to go yet. Sorry, I cannot link because I am on the mobile app on my iPod.

There is a long list of authors who write comedic fantasy novels that are usually recommended in this instance, such as:

I have not personally found anyone who compares with Pratchett, so I don't recommend any one author over the other. It tends to be a matter of taste and exactly what about Pratchett you happen to like the most.

I'm a big fan of Pratchett. I guess it depends what you like about him though.

Douglas Adams is almost obvious as a rival for Pratchett's silliness. Jasper Fforde is a close second for me. Just clever and silly jokes. And the more you read them the more you get. The book I'd suggest starting with is my favourite The Eyre Affair, and I love that the more you read the more jokes you get so you can reread again and again if you wish.

Neil Gaiman is another natural progression, due to Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. That's how I discovered him, and am ever grateful to Terry Pratchett asking him to cowrite a book with him. Not as silly or even funny at times, but some of the best books I have ever read. My favourite is American Gods but Neverwhere is a great introduction novel to Gaiman, or Stardust if you want some more traditional/lighter fantasy.

The Rook by Daniel O'Malley is another I will throw in there. More urban fantasy again, and a bit straighter than Pratchett, but the man is funny in a dry, sarcastic, Australian way (he's from my city and is a friend of friends, but never met him). I'm eagerly waiting for number two to be released in the next couple of months.

I wouldn't have thought to add The Rook as a if you've read Pratchett, you'll like this but I do happen to love this book and I'll add a highly recommended for it as well.

I am also impatiently waiting for the second book!!

The only Jasper Fforde I have read is The Last Dragonslayer trilogy. I agree. He is funny but subtle.

American Gods is not on my favorite list, but I did not hate it. Neverwhere and The Graveyard Book are good, for me, Gaiman though.

MY favorite Jasper Fforde is the Nursery Crime Series, stating with The Big Over Easy!☺

I didn't even know he had a series about nursery rhymes but I've always liked Shades of Grey (despite its unfortunate name), he's never written a sequel though.

When I saw him last month he said he loved 50 Shades of Grey because of all the accidental sales he got. Or the not so accidental when booksellers gave people his book when people asked for "that shades of grey book". A few members of the audience admitted doing that in their own stores! Lol

The sequel is coming as well, I asked him about it. He had to finish a book, then another, then he may write it then, unless he gets distracted with another book. But it is coming.

I really liked The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, that series has unfortunately ended up in the ever growing list of ones I've started but not finished.
Last year was supposed to help that, I think it actually made it worse! :)

I am glad to hear that there may be another book in that series someday, it's been ages since someone added a sequel on here without it ever having a date though, so I'm getting to the 'believe it when I see it' stage.

I think all of us hate the spell checker, Craig. It does do some amazing transpositions though!

We are used to reading "TravisNY text" :0). It is a YLTO standard now, I think.
