I'm going to try to read along with the first one! I don't have a lot of time some days, but I'll do my best to keep up. :)
Is it starting today?! I love Poison Study! Probably one of my all time favorite books. I would love to reread it with you guys.
Jade wrote: "yes I will most likely be reading the entire series :)"Great then after this I'll read the 2nd and 3rd with you too :)
I think she's over 18 - she said when she was 16 when they started the 'experiments' I think and then she stayed for 2 years and then a 1 and a bit in prison... so maybe 19/20??
Yeah about 19 sounds right for Yelena (in orphanage till 16, 2 years with Brazell and 1 year in prison). Valek played a central role in the Commander's coup 15 years before, so he's at least 30. Maybe 32-35?
I was a bit surprised too at first, but the age gap doesn't bother me in this case because she is mature for her age
I thought I'll share a curious tidbit that has left me guessing throughout the reading: while the english title Poison Study is pretty self-explanatory, the translated edition I'm reading is titled Dark Moon: La farfalla di pietra (= Dark Moon: The stone butterfly). "Stone butterfly".. Does it have anything to do with the Butterfly's Dust poison? Or is it the butterfly we briefly glimpsed in chapter 17? What is its relevance that it was put in the title? What about the "Dark moon"? And why is that part in english when it's not even present in the original??
I read the first and second book in this series but I found that they were a little bland. I just felt that I didn't get to know the characters enough. Does anyone else feel this way?
I've read the entire series up until the Soulfinders ones that are out so far. I have to say that I absolutely love all of them.
Finished! So in the end the "stone butterfly" was the stone carving (is this the correct word?) Valek gifted her that symbolizes Yelena herself (appears frail and delicate but is actually much stronger than it looks at first glance).
As for the "dark moon"... it really has no reason whatsoever to be in the title!! I suspect it's just a ploy for the publisher to lure rabid vampire/werewolf romance fans. Now I remember being so pissed by this after my first read that I lowered my rating
I'm looking forward to starting the second :D
So far so good. I personally didn't care much for the tree people, fortunately we left them pretty quickly. I like Yelena's What Would Valek Do moments XDCan you give me the breakdown of the chapters/day? I'm always worried about going too far ^^'
I like Valek - strong yet compassionate!
And of course Janco and Ari are such faithful friends to Yalena, how can you not like those two goofballs!?
