Hello and welcome. This is where we can all introduce ourselves. Name, location, position in a library, your interest level in graphic novels and the last good book you read!

I'm Rachel from New Jersey. Currently a Library Assistant/Tech Services Assistant while I finish my MLIS degree. I love graphic novels and they take up a good portion of my bookshelf. The last good book I read was Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson.

I'm Kristen from New York. I'm a full-time M.S.I.S. student and a part-time Graduate Assistant at one of my university's three academic libraries. I handle reference services, marketing, IR deposits, and a plethora of other tasks assigned to me. Within the last three years I really got into reading graphic novels regularly thanks to a friend. However, my relationship with the format started early as my sister actually taught me how to read with Archies that I would buy with my allowance when I was 5. The last good book I read was Giant Days, Vol. 2 by John Allison.

love love love Roller Girl. I actually heard about it after Stephen Thompson recommended it on Pop Culture Happy Hour after reading it with his daughter.

Elle Rivers (laurari) Hello!!! My name is Laura and I guess you could say that I am an adult services librarian (reference, ESL, PR, cataloging) with an interest in YA lit. I also work in New Jersey. Graphic novels are all that I read nowadays since being in an MLIS program and working has really sucked all of my energy and time. I read them digitally and I prefer to buy trades of the series that I love the most (Morning Glories and Saga). I'm a huge fan of manga as well. I can't remember the last book that I read, but I think that one of last GN's that I read was Deadly Class, Vol 1-3, and I really enjoyed it!

Dana Farabaugh (danafarbs) | 3 comments Hi! I'm Dana and I'm a District Consultant Librarian near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I'm pretty sure that my position is unique to PA--basically, I make sure all the libraries in my county are meeting their requirements for state funding and do a lot of library development. I come up with county-wide programs, do a lot of staff training, and try to help my libraries be awesome.

My fiance is a big fan of comics and graphic novels, so I started reading and collecting comics when we started dating. Right now I'm working on building a collection of every appearance of Barbara Gordon as Batgirl :) The last great book I read was The Woods volume 1.

Jenna (jennalouisereads) (jennalouisereads) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Jenna and I'm a children's library associate in Norfolk, VA while I'm finishing up my MLIS degree at Rutgers online. My job basically entails doing lots of PR & Displays stuff, programming, and a little bit of collection development. I have a huge interest in YA lit, but don't really know much about graphic novels or comics! I have a huge interest in them but don't really know where to start :/ The last comic book I read was Ms. Marvel Vol 1: No Normal which was excellent. The last great book I read was The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.

I read The Woods before the spring semester started and I was intrigued. Do you plan to read more of it?

Yeah, I've been meaning to pick up the next volume but first I'm trying to work my way through all of the stuff I've bought and have yet to read.

Beverly K (faded_fae) | 1 comments My name is Beverly Klotzkin. I'm from northern New Jersey, not currently in a library (not yet!), I have some interest in graphic novels especially after this semester, and the last good book I read is the one I'm reading right now, The Demon King.

Marissa (mtmadamlibrarian) | 2 comments Hello all! I'm a YA Librarian with the City of Los Angeles Public Library system. I've been working in libraries for 8 years now, the last 2 1/2 as a librarian.

My career path while I was getting my MLIS was in Children's Services, but I've found that YA is a pretty good fit for me (especially since it involves the collection development of my branch's graphic novel section), and now I wish that had been my career path in school instead.

I have an obnoxiously long list of graphic novels that I adore, but at the top would be "Nimona" by Noelle Stevenson, "Lumberjanes" by Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, & Brooke A. Allen, and "Ms. Marvel" by G. Willow Wilson. Recently, I've started reading Fraction's run of "Hawkeye" and DeConnick's run of "Captain Marvel" (which is fantastic; I can see why my girl Kamala Khan loves Carol Danvers so much).

I enjoy manga as well, though not as much as I did several years ago. Recent releases like "One Punch Man," "The Ancient Magus' Bride," and "Assassination Classroom" have been a lot of fun to read, though.

I'm looking forward to talking graphic novels with all of you!
