What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I'd love any suggestions for books where a group of people compete to get a job or to become the true hero or something like that. Kind of like in Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass or even Hunger Games. Either Science fiction or fantasy would be cool! Thanks :D

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is a five star read. Also, I just finished a great one that's a cool merge of Ready Player One and Hunger Games: Arena by Holly Jennings.

Much of Ender's Game is competitive and quite a good read.

Countdown I read this, absolutely sure I'd read it before and found it's a expanded edition of one I'd read a few years ago.
