Happy to say that the first review for Retribution Darkened is in over at Amazon.com, which is great to see! I also found it being reviewed over at lovelybooks.de (a kind of Goodreads website based in Germany) so thank you guys for adding it! It is very much appreciated :)https://www.amazon.com/review/R3IUHY5...
WOW!!! A big thank you to all who have downloaded Retribution Darkened over the last few days. I'm super excited to say that the book is currently sitting at number 3 in the Amazon chart for Gothic books in both Japan and Germany, sitting above Dracula!!! Thank you so much, and I hope everyone enjoys the story as it unfolds!
I'm currently on Google, and some of my searches - as a result of researching book plots and looking for cover design images for both myself and other authors - look downright dodgy and would cause an awful lot of concern! For instance, here's just a glimpse...
Gun shot wound
haunted castle
Rabbit [not the fluffy kind]
Demons
witchcraft
Scratch marks
Vampire
blood stain
Stab wound
Dark alley
Blood droplet
Knife
Absinthe
Gun
witch
naked warrior
...and so on.
Honestly, I *am* a nice girl, really :)
Happy New Year! A little late, I know!Well, 2017 has got off to a reasonable start here at Scorpius Towers, with the (fingers crossed) delivery of paperbacks of Retribution Darkened due from the printers any day, which is exciting!
I will also be revealing the cover for Dark Child, along with the release date really soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that one. I may even give a little sneek peek!
In other news, who else loved the first episode of Taboo, starring Tom Hardy? Dark, brooding, eerie... Tom Hardy... what more can you ask for? :)
Retribution Darkened is currently free on Kindle from today until 5th May, so why not grab yourself a copy? :) Any reviews on Amazon afterwards would be amazing!https://www.amazon.co.uk/Retribution-...

Arrrgggghhh!! When you're trying to write one book, but your mind insists on thinking up scenes for the next one!
It's been a busy few weeks in the lead up to the summer holidays when everything slows down quite a bit. Dark Child is coming along nicely, so am aiming for an autumn/early winter release date... will keep you all posted.Received two new FIVE STAR reviews for Retribution Darkened recently which were very much welcome!!
Love this quote by the amazing Anne Rice:"What unleashes creativity in me is deep surrender to my story and my characters. I have to get into the novel with them."
So can't wait for the Vampire Chronicles TV series. I know it's a way off yet, but still exciting stuff! Who would you like to see play Lestat?
For me, I've been thinking Joseph Morgan (The Originals), Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful), or Tim Mison (Sleepy Hollow).
Numbers feature a lot in the world of publishing, though my day in numbers is perhaps not completely book related, as detailed in my latest blog post over at Scorpius Books...http://www.scorpiusbooks.com/blog/pos...
Well it's slowly getting back to normal here after the chaos of the summer holidays! I shockingly got zero writing done over those six weeks which was a shame, but I am now busily back at my desk and playing catch up... I am still aiming for an autumn/winter release for Dark Child and hopefully will be revealing the cover at the end of the month!I did, however, find a couple of amazing adult colouring books - a gothic special and a godesses and mythology special - so I did spend some of my lazy evenings creating little works of art! You can see them over at my facebook page! www.facebook.com/JMRankinbooks.com
What a tangled web we weave...Who said writing a book was simple? It certainly wasn't me, as explained in my latest blog post over at Scorpius Books!

I am really excited (and a little sad as it's the last one) to reveal the cover for Dark Child, the final book in my trilogy. I will be releasing the blurb and a small sneak peak over the next few weeks as well, so keep your eyes pealed! You can view it over on Facebook:

HIP HIP HOORAY!Hey! It's Scorpius Books' fifth birthday! I can hardly believe it!
Yep, on this day in 2012, my first book, Darkness Forbidden, was published. Since then, the sequel has been published, with the third one due very soon, have sold a shed-load (rounded up to the nearest throusand!) of books, have recieved five star reviews and generally enjoyed the ride of being a published author and publisher all rolled into one! There's been learning curves and disappointments, though the highlight of the last year has to be reaching number 3 (THREE!) on the Amazon bestsellers list (above Dracula, I might add). There's still plenty of mileage in that one!
A big thank you has to go to out to all those who bought a copy of my books and left amazing reviews, as well as everyone who has supported me on this journey... with many more miles left to go!
2018 will see the (slightly delayed) release of Dark Child, followed by my supernatural thriller, Dead Eyes Still See. It will also see a brand new website, a more dynamic blog, online store and other bookselling goodies.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and here's to another five years of publishing!
It's been a while since my last post (tut tut) but I have been at work behind the scenes, editing, writing and creating a new website (my geek-dom knows no bounds!). Dark Child has faced more than it's fair share of delays for one reason or another but it is well on it's way now and I should have a release date very soon. Thanks to my new website hosts (who have been marvelous), I now have a better and sleeker website (still in the tinkering stages but a *huge* improvement on the old one), with links for all available books and an excerpt of Darkness Forbidden to enjoy :)

As I chip away at Dark Child, scribble notes on other book ideas and tinker with book covers, I thought I’d take you all behind the scenes in my ‘day in the life of an author’ (I think it’s called procrastination!)...https://scorpiusbooks.com/2018/07/04/...
Phew… the school holidays are done, checked off the list of things to do (or not to do in my case where all things book-related fell by the wayside amidst days out and calls of ‘I’m bored!’) and I am now back at my desk for essentially the first time since July with some exciting developments, including Dark Child that is swiftly approaching a release date announcement.I have also been granted permission to re-publish an old series of children's books (originally published in the 1980s) which I am super excited about! Things are not quite all done with the paperwork as yet but I will be announcing all the details as soon as I can.
I will keep you posted!
A new excerpt has been added to my website for Retribution Darkened today so why not pop over and have a look around?www.scorpiusbooks.com
