It's that time. We'll be starting a new group read next month.

Start with nominations and then we'll put up a poll later this month.

Sorry, this thread is waaaay late. Lately I'm the one who's done these and the polls, but I've been really busy and barely been on here and nobody noticed and picked it up.

I'm still busy and barely on here, so maybe Chompa, Brenno or Brittany can handle the poll. As late as we are, we should stop nominations after just a few days and put the poll up, I think.

Ok I'll start, Sharp Ends!

Chris, I took a look and it appears I might be able to figure out the poll.

I'm going to nominate Scourge of the Betrayer as it is about the start of a great (and complete) trilogy.

Second! I really want to read this one :)

message 6: by Kieron (new)

Kieron Those are both excellent nominations. However in an attempt to make by TBR list go down I am going to nominate The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie.

message 7: by Dan (new)

Dan (TheGreatBeast) | 28 comments I'll nominate Dusk by Tim Lebbon. I'll hold off seconding something for now. I'd like to second an Abercrombie nomination, but I haven't quite finished the First Law trilogy yet, and I'll most likely be starting up The Last Argument of kings ASAP (got a copy coming in the mail).

I'm going to wait til tomorrow morning for more nominations and will then put up the poll.

I love the choices so far. Dusk is one I'd not heard of, but sounds very interesting.

pisang - Florian | 66 comments I would second Sharp Ends if I didn't build in a Abercrombie pause. :-) I'll nominate Brent Weeks - The Way of Shadows.

I'm going to post the poll in about 2 minutes. Thanks for all the good suggestions.

I'd read a short story from Lebbon taking place in his world of Noreela from Swords & Dark Magic: The New Sword and Sorcery and it was easily one of the better and most striking stories in the collection (Abercrombie's, Lynch's and Kiernan's kicked ass too).

Silvana (silvaubrey) I second Sharp Ends. Is the poll there yet?

Yes, click on polls and you'll see it.

I was able to get the poll going this time. I sometimes impose a very luddite opinion on my ability to do this stuff.

I should be able to carry my share going foward.
