This is a kind of challenge I'd like to make for young, upcoming writers. Most people think that when they finish a book, people will automatically buy their book, especially if they receive good feedback from friends or family. That's not how it works. When people buy a book they have to be convinced, it has to be worth their while and their money. The cover has to draw them in or the summary or something else that's really special about it.
So I'd like for you to convince me to read your story in one email aimed at jonas@jonlod.com Rules: no outside hyperlink, not your first chapter, not your entire book, max 1 added file (no zips) and no dickpics.
I will reply with a yes or a no. Yes = You have convinced me, I'd like to see more. No = Sorry, you did not convince me.
I'd also like to beta read for people who have convinced me and even if you don't want me to beta read the story for you, you can still email me. I will give you my honest opinion.
About me and what I can offer you as beta reader: Info bomb => (view spoiler)[ I like to read a lot of different genres especially fantasy but also other things, except for romance. I picked up writing myself last year and am finishing up my first story. (My opinion will be focussed as a reader, not as a writer). As a non native english speaker I cannot offer you an in depth proofread but I'll point out what I can find and give my opinion on how accessible the vocabulary is. I despise plotholes in stories so I love tracking them down, anything that doesn't add up to the story. My honest opinion about the things you wrote. The time it took me to read your story and what it means. I've had 100 page stories that took me a month to finish and 1300 page stories that took me 7 days to finish. Nuff said. I cannot promise you that I will finish your story. If I don't like it or it's not my thing then I will drop the story but I will give you information as to why I dropped it. I will never ask you for money to beta read. I only read what I like so I'm actually enjoying myself if I read your story. However, I would like a free or heavily discounted copy of your story if you do get around to publish it :) (hide spoiler)]
