I will admit that I wasn't seeing that she was slowly growing up. For some reason I was seeing her more as the preschooler/kindergartner until we see how she fits in with the other kids at the "school". Cronin also involves us in a lot of new main characters and I found myself very drawn to Peter. Amy seems to be more of a peripheral character. *Shakes fist at Cronin for making her such an enigma!*

I agree with Beth in that the sadness being radiated by the virals is overwhelming. I'm surprised this added to being alone for so long did not cause her to be more hesitant in leaving the safety of the carousel.

When I read Amy now, I feel such sadness for her, and upon reflection, I wonder if I should. I've been thinking she was all alone and lonely, but was she really? Are the virals her friends and companions? Ugh. Now I'll have to think on this.
